No Preconditioning for over a week

Initially, when you thought it had failed, were you still in the office and monitoring of Ford Pass failed to reflect the start of preconditioning?

I've noticed a lag in action reports from truck to cloud and back to mobile Ford Pass, sometimes I'll wake up the device interactions by doing a unlock/lock request, forcing an update then suddenly the "pre conditioning" status will show up.

No - teleworking this afternoon. Scheduled departure time at 4:10, so I was looking for the truck lights to come on. Usually that is ~15 minutes in advance, but this time was a couple minutes after.

This event was timed to occur while I had the TOU set to a non-charging period, to verify the FCSP would still provide the required power to accomplish pre-conditioned cabin.

Here is the Emporia graph, by the minute this snap shot was at 7:27, peak rate was 11 kw at 7:12 then , slowed to 9, the 4.4 kw, at 7:27, it continued to maintain the temps until we walked out and unplugged the truck at 7:47 am.

Chart by the hour, showing a total of 3.42 kWh was consumed or 92 cent, much cheaper than idling a diesel for 20+ minutes!!

Thanks for the data! Curious, what do think was the temperature of ambient air/battery temp before the truck began preconditioning?

I’ve observed a similar Power draw after cold starting unconnected, and then warming my truck (a peak of ~8 kW, to ~4 kW and then holding at 1.5-2 kW) over a similar time period.

It looks to me like battery warming function/component may be pulling 1-2 kW….I really need to test this‍….or, just get a life!

The Ford folks on the forum established a ticket for me, so I am waiting to hear back from that. I doubt the dealer can do anything. When it works, it works fine so this is a software bug.

Preconditioning ONLY happens when plugged in. Otherwise it's the same as remote start. Either way seems like neither are working for you

Agreed on the differences, I just didn't want to type all that out every time - and yes, neither are working in anything approaching a consistent fashion. Ford reached out today and just told me to take it to a dealer. I replied that I didn't think that would really do anything since this is software not hardware. Waiting on another response.

@sotek2345 I'd escalate and start nagging a bunch of Ford's public facing Twitter folks about it. Sadly becoming the only way to get things fixed these days. Unacceptable for @Ford Motor Company to still not have this working consistently with colder months approaching.

@Ford Motor Company has reached out and I have a ticket number. I already did all of the troubleshooting they recommended and the next step per them is to take it to a dealer - but I highly doubt they can do anything for a software bug.

It did decide to work yesterday afternoon while not plugged in, but failed again this morning while plugged in. I adjusted the timing again (in the truck) to make it reset. It successfully pushed the new timing to Fordpass, but didn't precondition.
