It decided to work again this morning. Not plugged in. I am just using this thread to keep a log of what is happening.

I'm a little confused, why precondition while not plugged in? Doesn't that drain just as much as just hoping in and going without preconditioning?

Only extrapolating this to the lightning based on Tesla experience, but... We've found preconditioning, without being plugged in, to be hugely beneficial when it's 25°F and colder outside. Yes, it consumes energy to get things warmed up, but still way more efficient than driving off with a frozen battery.

You have cabin temp set to warm right? If you don't it won't preheat the cabin

Interesting, I'm glad I asked.

Honestly - just to have a nice warm truck to get into. I can't have my phone at work to remote start, so setting the departure time when I get out lets me have a warm truck. For now, I am trying both plugged and unplugged to see if there is a pattern.

Set to medium, which should heat at ~30F

I use the WARM setting, for a much more comfortable cabin, but it takes more juice!

My shore powered preconditioning worked on time this morning, still no heated steering.

This event was timed to occur while I had the TOU set to a non-charging period, to verify the FCSP would still provide the required power to accomplish pre-conditioned cabin.

Here is the Emporia graph, by the minute this snap shot was at 7:27, peak rate was 11 kw at 7:12 then , slowed to 9, the 4.4 kw, at 7:27, it continued to maintain the temps until we walked out and unplugged the truck at 7:47 am.
Ford F-150 Lightning No Preconditioning for over a week 1669837366541

Chart by the hour, showing a total of 3.42 kWh was consumed or 92 cent, much cheaper than idling a diesel for 20+ minutes!!

The tall bar of 38 kWh was Tuesday evenings battery charging session of 67% to 90%.
Ford F-150 Lightning No Preconditioning for over a week 1669837537315

Here we see the Connected Charge station log report, note the FCSP was configured during DST so it's stuck on DST and reflects a one hour error, actual charging ended Tuesday evening at 11:31 PM Note the close correlation of energy consumed, 36.228 kWh for the charge 67 to 90% and 3.56 kWh for the 37 minutes of preconditioning.

Ford F-150 Lightning No Preconditioning for over a week 1669837786548

Here is the Ford Pass charging session record. shows my 90% charge dropped 1% overnight, when the preconditioning started at 7:10am and finished 7:47 unplugging, the truck SOC increased to 91% imputed to be 2.62 kWh out of the 3.56 noted above.

I tried warm once - it was like getting into a sauna!

I have noticed one quirk about the warm setting, it definitely gets the cabin well above my normal 72 degree base line for auto comfort, so much more warm that after "starting" the truck and beginning my drive the HVAC system actually brings in a bit of cool outside air to balance out the warm cabin.

Afternoon pre-condition failed...

Scratch that - it did heat up. It just started later than I thought!

Initially, when you thought it had failed, were you still in the office and monitoring of Ford Pass failed to reflect the start of preconditioning?

I've noticed a lag in action reports from truck to cloud and back to mobile Ford Pass, sometimes I'll wake up the device interactions by doing a unlock/lock request, forcing an update then suddenly the "pre conditioning" status will show up.
