this is the form you should get at the dealer regarding the 5K

It shows options for the dealer to get the rebate and apply it to the purchase SIDE A

Side B shows a direct refund from Ford to you.

I cant blame the dealer for wanting to be out 5K for 90 days but it clearly shows they have the option to do it either way.

And actually now that I recognize where this sheet comes from, I can say I think you are mistaken. That is not the price protection sheet. That is the exact sheet that they gave me confirming my PRIVATE CASH OFFER, which is separate from the price protection. They have confirmed the private cash offer fortunately but not the price protection.

At this point, I'd get some online EV news reporters & social media on fire.

Ford Motor Co will take notice and will pressure the dealer to not play around with their prima Lightning release EV that they are banking on for their future.

I haven’t heard of any scenario from other members where ford sends a check directly to the customer. Even my dealership said that I will only get reimbursed when they get it from ford.
The main issue is them refusing to take it off at the time of purchase. Not only are they not offering the price protection up front, I am also financing AND paying taxes on $5000 that I shouldn’t even have to be paying in the first place.

I feel the outrage they are doing the same to me with the 5K

But can you show me ANYWHERE From Ford directly that says your price protection will be paid in advance and not as a refund.

I can tell the dealer to look up the DORA from my original invoice date, I can show them the correct order price is on my ford dashboard when I check out, I can even show them a screenshot of the Ford Fleet bulletin sent to dealers regarding the price protection and the dates/models that it applies to, and fords own statement regarding price protection that granger ford posted in another thread—to no avail.

I still do not see anywhere that says that price adjustment MUST be done at the point of sale and not in the form of a rebate.

Sure we would all like to let the dealer have to hold that 5K for 90 days due to Ford raising the MSRP

UPDATE!!

I just received a phone call from the second individual I spoke with last night who assured me that will absolutely not offer price protection up front and will only reimburse me when they get it.

It seems they had a change of heart (AKA their Ford rep got back to them and informed them they were indeed wrong--my assumption) and he confirmed that he was able to check the DORA of my original order date, which confirmed the originally priced invoice that I have been seeing on my end all along. He then told me that he will honor the price protection up front once the head sales manager signs off on it when he gets in later this morning. As of now, he confirmed the $49,749 invoice price and that they will still apply the $7000 PCO rebate tonight as well. I will be going in this evening to complete the purchase and will follow up with another update--or pictures of my new Lightning at home!

I'm not sure on an exact timeframe. When we bought my wife her mach-e last year they said we had 24 hours to make a decision after test driving but we drove it home that night.

@Ford Motor Company has adjusted the invoice to reflect the actual price to resolve the issue. They can do it for all dealers to reduce uncertainty and confusion. The fact that they have not yet done so after mustang reservation holders had to deal with similar issues makes it hard to believe they have any interest in improving customer experience.

I agree, there is no concrete wording to support that. But the statements from Ford regarding price protection, how the dealers are reimbursed on their end, and the bulletins that were posted in October regarding price protection clearly imply that price protection is SUPPOSED to be extended to the customers up front and that any invoicing discrepancies are to be handled between the dealer and Ford behind the scenes.
