So, my mobile charger faults out when on scheduled charging because it's in the high 30s or low 40s early in the morning. It will not work unless I bring the mobile charger in the house for an hour so it can warm up and then plug in and instant charge. @Ford Motor Company Sounds like this thing is not working as it should and its really not that cold.

I wonder if a temperature a little under 50F can cause a halt in charging. I am using 120Vac with the Ford mobile charger and here is the charge log today:

Note that I was plugged in for 17 hours, however charging does not start until 9pm (setup to avoid 4-9pm peak Time of Use rate, but still not enrolled by SCE). Charging ended at about 11am this morning, so should be about 14 hours of charging time. But only showing less than 5 hours of "total charge time". And way less than 2 miles/hr I normally get from previous charging logs. Maybe HV battery was trying to stay warm? Was the HVAC on in the truck--No, charging is now back to over 2mi/hr. Crazy, hope it does not re-occur. Hopefully will get 240Vac, 32A charging installed by January, 2023.

I think the first thing you have to answer is the charger faulting (amber light) because of the temperature or the power. I plugged in at a buddies house 120v and -15F and charger kept faulting. I assumed bad cord and didn’t have another cord so couldn’t troubleshoot. Went up to my cabin where it was -25F I have 220 there plugged in with mobile charger and it worked fine. Got as cold as -32F and not a single issue. So in my case the temperature has nothing to do with charger working, it is a power fault.

These new charging systems are pretty finicky. Like an analog cell phone versus digital. At least with analog you could get through even if it was broken up abit, where as with digital if the signal isn’t perfect nothing gets through.

The FMC is rated to operate from -22 to 122 F. If yours doesn’t, it should be replaced under warranty. Amber light usually means a temperature issue, while red is a power problem.

Any idea on how to go about getting that done? Ford sent me to the dealer who told me it wasn't a problem. I was contacted on here by @Ford Motor Company who submitted some sort of incident and haven't heard anything for weeks.

I do not. I haven’t had problems with mine. Folks on the Mach-E forum have had mixed results. Some get a replacement seamlessly, others have to fight for it, a few have been refused and been unable to get warranty. It seems to solely depend on how good your dealer is.
