When it was set to more than 40A, the ford charger would “click” 5 or 6 times like it’s starting to charge and then the Tesla would say charging stopped without any error messages. The longest it would charge is for a few seconds before the charger clicking and the charging stopping.

Makes sense that you would have to dremel or grind that away. However that won't work for bi-directional. For that, they already make an adapter.

But the one came with Tesla is free.

Be frankly I will not spend $160 on that adapter since CCS charging sucks. No need to use it to charge Tesla.

Jesus, they butchered that cut lol... definitely not a surgeon's work. Do we have confirmation that this works before I (much more cleanly) attempt this? Does FCSP amperage need to be reduced from 80A? TIA

Vehicle onboard AC/DC converter determines [PULLS] how much it want to take from the EVSE, it will only pull what it wants.

Ex1, the car/truck asks or only has the capacity to draw 45 amps, then only 45 amps will flow from the EVSE, the remaining 35 amps of unused capacity is not forced into the car/truck,

Ex2 unlike a one inch water pipe with 200 psi attached via a 1/2" hose to a plastic garden sprinkler, now that might blow apart under such a force.

Thanks, I thought that was how it worked, but when I tried the "correct" adapter from Amazon (~$150) it clicked a couple of times then shut off, no support from the seller and just can't figure out how to charge MYP direct from FCSP... currently daisy chaining FCSP->Lightning->Tesla and that does work, although less than ideal... thanks again, still looking for the solution to not have to install a second wall unit (or charge the MYP on 120v).

I did not see this so I am posting. I saved the picture but couldn’t find the OP on Reddit and couldn’t give him the credit. According to him, FCSP amperage needs to be set to 40A, otherwise Tesla would refuse to charge.

I'll heed the advice of experienced Tesla owners, odd that it would refuse to charge even if the EVSE could provide more current than the cars converter could process.

Reddit OP has both and that's why he was cutting the adapter. He also had wifi connection issue with his FCSP so he hard set the current to 40A but not with Ford app. When it was set to more than 40A, the ford charger would “click” 5 or 6 times like it’s starting to charge and then the Tesla would say charging stopped without any error messages. I know Tesla vehicles should be able to accept more than 50A and limit current to 48A, since this is J1772 with adapter, so no one (with Ford/Tesla) will ever try to debug this protocol issue.

I finally got around to picking up an extra J1772 to NACS/Tesla adapter. I butchered it up and it worked!

Should not need to set the amperage lower on the FCSP, but it also seems to be a flakey charger, so...

The Tesla J1772 adapter included with the vehicles allow for full comms pass-thru and the car will request its nominal amperage. The Tesla adapter is limited to 60A, which could be the culprit depending on which Tesla he's trying to charge from the FCSP. If it's an older Model S with dual chargers or Model X with the high-power charger, then the cars would request 80A and 72A, respectively and those need to be dialed down at the charger or on the interface in the car.

I didn't adjust the amperage. Tesla requested 48a. Charger delivered.

Update: the Tesla started having trouble with scheduled charging. If I connect the FCSP to the Tesla and started charging immediately, it works. However, if I leave it connected for a period of time, it will fail to charge.

I'm thinking I will swap the FCSP out for a Tesla Universal Wall Connector.
