Took my 23 XLT SR in for 10k service. Good news, $36 services charge For check-up, rotation, ect. Bad news, they say truck updates are current but I show nothing since June 16th. Ford Pass connectivity poopy again as well. Talked to Ford BEV and confirmed update “cancelled in the cloud”. Truck has had Gateway Module TSB. LOVE the Lightning, just wish for 60k I did not have to keep going back to dealer for this kind of silly stuff.

Plus, brand new EA Chargers just opened across the street from my house. Tried one out on the way home….350kWh…..getting 90kWh at best. Gotta be better EA.

Okay…rant over. Weather beautiful, let’s go wash the truck.

Sorry about your issues, hopefully they get fixed soon.

The good news is the truck is awesome despite updates.

What was your SOC when you plugged into the EA charger?

Dealership doesn't do OTA updates, they update modules. They'd be able to see if an OTA update is queued up (it isn't, per BEV as you noted). My last OTA update was 7/13/23, "frunk chimes". Prior to that was 6/18/23.

Dealerships don't update modules during service unless you have a CSP pending, or you have an issue that is fixed by a module update.

The SR Lightning maxes out at 120 kW, and that's only at the start of charging if SOC is low. So it's not an EA issue, it's as designed. See https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...ightning-charging-frequently-asked-questions/, which says this:

Can I charge at a 350kW charge station?

Yes. Most Electrify America DC fast chargers can deliver up to 350kW of power, but your Ford all-electric vehicle will only accept up to 120kW or 155kW, depending on if you have the standard-range or extended-range battery, respectively.

I know it cannot accept 350 but should do better than 90. SOC was 50%. Disappointed that even new chargers do not deliver max that the truck accepts. I have seen 150kWh on several EA chargers on the east coast during charging trips.

Yes but it should not be this difficult to get the updates to go to the truck. We all agree Ford has some work to do in this regard.

I think Lightning owners don't have much to complain about with OTA updates, as compared to Mach-E owners. But yes, Ford needs to step up their game, and they know it.

I am having similar OTA problem. No updates since June 12. I contacted the OTA hotline twice. I am following their recommendation that it's charged to 90%, emergence brake is on, headlights on the off position etc.... and giving it 2 weeks to see if any updates happen. I have a SR XLT that was a dealer demo. I also contacted a Ford Fleet email but they said it isn't registered as a fleet vehicle.

You got an update on June 12th. Therefore, it is properly working. Emergency brake is irrelevant, headlights off is irrelevant. There haven't been any updates for over a month.

Bought our Mach E in the July of ‘21. Updates didn’t show up till October. Late ‘ 22 updates really helped efficiency. Added dial features that made HVAC controls user friendlier. I don’t expect LT updates (April build) for another month or so.

Me. I’ll try that. My modem looks dead though…. No Wi-Fi available. I think that’s a part of this.

I'm disabling OTA when I get my Lightning. This past year the OTA onmy Mach-E have just made more issues. My center screen never starts correctly, most of the time I have to force a reset to get it to boot up. Ford OTA is it good on the Mach-E.

I just got 130kw at 20% SOC in my PRO SR.

90kwh is actually pretty good. The other good thing that you will find is that the Lightning can maintain that charging rate For a good amount of time. I’ve noticed that when I charge the Lightning at an EA station (150kwh), I am usually the one with the highest charging rate. One time, there two Lucids, a Kia and a VW and I was at 85 and they were in the 50’s 60’s range.

I would not worry too much about the OTA. You only know about them because people post them on the forums, but most likely, they are not affecting your driving.

The only important update for me was the one that added the battery SOC on the main screen. (Before it was only on the calm screen)

Unless you have a hardware issue, the updates should happen. Make sure your 12v battery is healthy, and that you park in place where the Wifi signal is strong.

also make sure that your phone and key are away from the truck so it does not constantly try to wake it up.
