I have stock Michelin AT’s. Had a very low tire this morning (24 psi vs the rest at 39), so I swung back home and filled all of them to 42. As I drove and the day warmed, they all went up to 44. Max pressure says 51. I figure I’ll get better mi/kW. Am I wrong? Is this a mistake/dangerous? Thanks, bros.

Not at all, when I set my stock AS to 42 cold, they often rise to 44-45 after spirited driving.

Pay attention to the one that went low, might have a nail hiding in the tread

I should mention I’m in SoCal where a cold morning is 48F. Obviously I’ll keep an eye on this goofy tire. I’ve had tires randomly go low over my 40 years of driving, only to fill them back up and they’re fine, but never on a new vehicle.

 The recommended tire pressure on my Pro with stock Michelin AT's is 36psi. Should I be running more PSI than the door sticker says?

Higher pressure is ok as long as you're not exceeding the tires max rating on the side wall, it will result in a stiffer ride and detract from the ~all terrain~ performance when off roading, in that situation lower it to the specification if not a ~little~ softer [lower] depending on the surfaces being driven over.

I definitely got a little more road feel by adding 3 psi. City boy here will never go off-road…

Socal here too. 42 cold, rises to 46 after some driving.

If I'm feeling luxurious, I'll drop them to 36 cold.

Keep in mind that some tire/wheel combos have a higher stock pressure on some models - rely on the door sticker for the reference PSI rather than this forum.

I have been sticking with the sticker in winter but I wonder Which is better on snow; More contact patch or less (to cut through the snow and meet the asphalt). I am more concerned with safety in winter than range. Any thoughts anyone?

Keep an eye on that tire. One tire going that low, compared to the other 3, points to a nail in it.

Tire sidewall pressures, like all tire pressures, are COLD. What they increase to while driving is irrelevant.

I inflate my spare to the max sidewall pressure so if in 5 months I need it I know it has enough air. Easy to let some out.

Thinner tires, i.e. less contact. But, that is for tires, i.e. snow tires. Tire pressure, cold, should be the same year round.

36 psi for the stock ATs. 42 is going to make them pretty firm.

I use around 37 with the stock ASs because 42 makes the ride really suck. If I were towing heavy or had heavy payload I might raise to 42.
