Our 2023 Lightning XLT SR is two months old and it looks like someone backed into our charge door and broke the latching mechanism.

I am looking for the most cost effective way to repair/replace this so I can remove the roll of tape from my truck that now is needed to keep the door shut.

I stopped into our dealer and got a quote for $399 for PN : NL3Z10370AAA that sounds like it may be the door that has all of the parts needed on it. It took them a while to find the PN so I am a little doubtful that it is correct. I would love for someone to be able to back me up on that part number to what is needed in the image below. - Hopefully that is is wrong and the right one is $20.

The next question is; is there a diagram of what needs to be pulled off the car for me to fix the door myself. I am finding nothing online for exploded views for fixing this vehicle.

Thank you.

What exactly is broken on the door. If it’s just the latching pin, there posts out here about replacing those.

The pic doesn’t tell much about what the damage was.

Sorry, the latching pin is broken off (I'll look for the info already posted it sounds like). And the catch for keeping the cosmetic overplate on is broken off.

Hopefully this is more descriptive of the issues.

If anyone has a link to past latching pin posts please copy them here since my searches have so far come up empty. Thanks

My apology. Seems I was recalling posts on the Maverick Truck Club of which I was also a member.

I’ll do a little research and see if a lightning after market replacement has been made.

I would think this one is the same and would work.

A few years back, the spring mechanism that kept the fuel door closed in my '06 F150 broke and the door just loosely swung open and shut. In the spirit of the redneck engineering of my forefathers I glued a small rare-earth magnet to the door and that gave it all the force it needed to stay shut. Actually liked it way better than I like this push-to-release system.

I think the F150L is all aluminum and plastic, so a magnet alone won't do it, but I'd go with a magnet glued to the door, and a steel plate glued to the truck. Probably cost you about three fiddy, depending on what you might already have in your garage.

Shortly after taking delivery on my Lightning, the charge port door failed. When the dealer replaced it under warranty the entire charge port was removed and a new one installed. Interestingly, it only took the technician about an hour. Key to the process was getting a the correct prepainted door as part of the assembly. In short, it is $399 because you are paying for the whole charging port.

Hi,

I'm here for help on the similar issue.
My mistake, I broke it backing out of my garage and I see similar issue where the middle part panel has broken and the latch.
I'm curious how did you fix this ??

Did you happen to get it done by replacing the whole door or purchasing the part online ?

Also, I see the latch is available on dealership sites or Ebay but how about the middle panel which hooks to the metal door.

Thanks for the details !
