Lightning XLT owner for 4 days. Loving the truck, but questions, so thank you in advance for helping.

This question is about preheating the truck. I came from a Tesla and just had to open the app and turn on the climate.

In the Lighting, I go into the Ford Pass App, select Vehicle, the Departure Times. Correct so far?

I then choose the day/time I want. I also have Pre-condition cabin while unplugged checked. (so far only attempted this when not charging)

As an example, I set the Departure Time as 3pm.

So far, nothing is happening. Truck is cold when I get to it.

If this is the process, it is too difficult -- but I can live with it because I love having a truck again.

Am I missing something?

Thank you

Remote Start if you want it "now"

Departure time if you want it sometime in the future or on a schedule, departure time is - departure time - so the truck will start before that to make sure everything is warm and cozy by the time you've set.(assuming you also added "condition cabin")

I don't think the XLT has remote start capability. I wish it did.

I believe all trims of Lightning have remote start, make sure you have opted in all communications functions on the trucks Sync screen

Well, don't a feel stupid. Yes, I have that. I thought it was something on the key fob. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Check the preconditioning schedule in the truck to be sure what you entered in FordPass transferred.

I would also add, if you don't want/need to precondition the battery, don't set a departure time. It won't matter if you aren't plugged in, but if you are the truck will pull energy to warm the battery. Really only worth the energy expense if you are road tripping and need the efficiency.

One more tip about "Departure Time" aka scheduled warming/cooling of the truck while unplugged, the process starts 5 minutes prior to your scheduled leave {departure} time.

The telecom's between Fordpass and the cloud then onward to the truck can be sporadic, I like to verify that the truck received the schedule, on rare occasion mine had not received the plan of action.

Teslas approach is Modes for everything.

Fords approach is Truck On Truck Off.

Remote start can be set up to put climate on Auto (heats if cold, cools if hot) or to use last climate setting. Seats will heat or cool if equipped automatically

if you are out running errands and want to “Keep Climate” Mode while you run in the shops. Just leave the truck ON, get out and lock the door. The truck will not shift out of Park if there is no key (or phone) present in the truck (in case someone broke in).

Truck will automatically fully shut down after 30 min unless you go in settings and switch off the vehicle shutdown timer. The shutdown timer reactivates with every key cycle.

This is also Dog Mode and camp mode. For dog mode just open the Sketch app on the screen and write a clever note explaining Dog Mode is on

I have a front and rear dash cam that is wired to the review mirror for power. So it is recording whenever the truck is on. So leaving the truck ON is also Sentry Mode for me.

What set-up do you have for the cameras?

how do you keep the note in the sketch mode? Mine shuts off to a blank screen after a few minutes

Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam Suitable for Ford F150 2021 2022 2023 Limited XLT XL Raptor Lariat Platinum King Ranch Tremor, OEM Style, UHD 2160P Video, WiFi & APP, G-Sensor Loop Recording, Plug&Play, 64GB Card https://a.co/d/htBEAsA

Plug and play, looks factory, rear cam is easy to run around the driver side headliner edge and stick on the rear window.

A little spendy but works a treat
