I was wondering, is there a way to have the camera on the mirrors turn on when you turn on your turn signal? Is there a feature or setting that allows them to turn on?

For example, I flick the left turn signal and the driver side camera comes on for 3-5 seconds then turns off.

If it’s possible to do it without forscan, that would be awesome!

My 2016 accord had this feature, but just for the passenger side since that was the only side that had a camera. And my wife’s Telluride has that feature. It’s really nice to check your blind spots when changing lanes.

The feature is in the APIM asbuilt but the SCCM module firmware doesn’t seem to send the event for the turn signals.

Yea, I turned the option on via forscan…no luck though.

Hi,

I would agree with you - seems a shame to have two side view cameras on each mirror and not be able to use the feed to display the view when the turn signal is on, it would be a good addition to the blind spot radar.

Perhaps @Ford Motor Company already has this planned for a future enhancement?

My friend's Tesla does exactly that. My son's Ram Rebel allows you to access right or left mirror camera individually

Better cameras on my truck, but my wife's Tesla uses them better (turn camera, sentry, horn honk).

I think the cameras in the mirror would not be useful as they pretty much point straight down. The bed camera (CHMSL) may be better especially if it could be split into left and right.

On cars that have turn-signal mirrors the cameras are specifically for blind spot, not for showing a 360 view like ours.

My wife's Kia EV6 has a little video that pops up on the driver display showing the blind spot whenever she activates a blinker.

I love the feature. All credit to @antho over on the ICE forum for figuring it out. He also stated that if you plug a light into the trailer connector to cause a draw, it will trick the truck into thinking it has a trailer connected and you can have it working all the time.

What's really helpful is that at night, the camera view on the screen appears brighter than looking through the mirror itself. On the way back from the keys when I recorded that video referenced above, I stopped at a gas station to fill up my boat since the rec 90 fuel is cheaper down there than in the city where I live. It was at night, and when it came to pull out onto the main road, it was dark and difficult to see through the mirror to make sure I wasn't going to clip anything with the trailer. I turned on my turn signal, the view on the screen was at least 5 times brighter than what I could see in the mirror. It really is a great feature; Ford really should make it available to any vehicle with a 360 camera package as part of the towing package.

What do the cameras on the side mirrors do? What is their function?

360 degree view. Only look down.
Mine offered a new view recently. Not sure when it was updated but noticed it in the truck yesterday. Trailer view and it shows both side cameras
