Happened to see this when pulling into a Kwik Trip in Sheboygan. I'm sure glad that I don't actually need a charge or I might be stuck here for a few days... 🤣🤣🤣

Well it's not Wisconsin... it is Kwik Trip which is a very well regarded and abundant convenience store chain in Wisconsin / Minnesota / Iowa.

They started at a minimum installing the 120v chargers in 2011. They have since started installing some level 3 chargers at a few locations. I believe some of their representatives have been part of the committee that helped develop the Wisconsin NEVI plan that @RickLightning posted. My guess is they will be a full participant in putting in many of the NEVI qualified chargers if they can get the 80% of it paid via the NEVI boondoggle.

Yup, I totally get all of this. I live in Wisconsin about 1/3 of the year and am in Illinois the rest of the year. I love Kwik Trip, but I had never before noticed one of these little 120v "charging stations" before. I made this post largely in jest. I know that Wisconsin proper has solid plans to expand DC Fast Charging across the state and having the EA location in Green Bay finally open is very welcome.

The 120v thing is 99.9% pointless though. I guess it doesnt hurt, and was minimal effort cost to do for them.

That EA rollout in Green Bay was painful. Took well over a year for it to get installed and go live!

That's a great place for employees to plug in their block heaters.

Kwik Trips are ideal locations for fast chargers IMO. A charge, a Karuba Coffee and a peanut butter crispy bar would be a dream.

sw engineering manager,
Local Kwik Trip here in MN has one of those.

Mostly people with EVs just park there because its an available parking spot close to the door not at a gas pump.
Nobody should care that they are not plugging in for the 10 minutes they are in the store because that is essentially the same amount of charging as if they plugged in (zero).

Can we talk about how bad Madison, WI is for road tripping through? All I have found for 150kw+ is EA at Walmart along I90 and the downtown charging hub across from Cargo Coffee (great cafe btw). Both of these fast charging locations kind of suck with many/most stations out and line ups to charge and sometimes throttled speeds.

Anyone know when Madison charging might get better?

"Pointless" ... UNLESS the state subsidized it and was billed $5000, THEN it's "worthwhile" :)

Actually that 20A plug was a step in the right direction by whomever installed it.
As Rick said, it was installed many years ago.
That is what they knew then. Back then many communities the AHJ had it added into local code that all new homes with attached garage shall have one dedicated 120V 20A circut installed in garage for future electric vehicle charging.
It is what they knew then.

The sign should also say "Employee Parking Only" as a 120 V outlet would have some usefulness for a vehicle that will be sitting there for eight hours.

Seriously, a great number vehicles' daily use could get by if the vehicle were plugged into a 120 V outlet at work and at home.

That's not to say this is a solution for everyone, but it would make a difference to more that many don't realize.
