I know about the climate bar, and I agree I don’t like it. But the wheel doesn’t pop up on this screen? Just having to avoid swapping the hvac module since I don’t have heated seats.

Nope, at least not as far as I know. The icon will pop up at the top of the screen when it's on, but I don't believe there's a way to turn it on or off without switching to the other screen or swapping the HVAC units. I'm fine with it automatic though, doesn't bother me at all.

@jdmackes well done! Overall how involved/difficult was this mod? Is it easier if I already have heated seats? Looking to get this done in mine.

It's not difficult, might be a little expensive though. The worst part is running the wire to power the sccm, but its not too bad or anything. I think the price of the sccm and the heated wheel have gone up since I did it, but I haven't checked in months.

That’s actually why I brought this back up. The wheel pricing dropped back down to its normal pricing of $166 and the SCCM is $59 both at Tasca.

Oh wow, I think that's way cheaper for the SCCM. I'm pretty sure I paid like 200 for it (but I might be confusing parts, I was buying a lot of stuff then). If I can get the time I'll see if I can update the firmware on the HVAC unit I bought and get it to work with the lightning. The one I got was around 100 so it isn't too bad price wise. I'd love to get cooled seats at some point in time too (probably get katzkin ones) so if I could integrate all that it would be awesome

Awesome. Would you happen to have part numbers?

I have the below, which is only what I was watching on tasca. Double check elsewhere that it is all the parts. Only thing I know that isn’t below are the hvac controls and a replacement steering wheel bolt.

ML3Z-3600-RA Heated Wheel
ML3Z-3F791-BB SCCM
WT1030 Terminal

Resurrecting this... I just finished doing the ACC mod and want to tackle HSW next. Tasca prices are not terrible: $165 for the steering wheel and $59 for SCCM.

Couple questions:

1) Any advice on how to route the wire from SCCM to BCM? Like do I need to remove a bunch of interior paneling?

2) I'm going with software button, at least for now. @jdmackes: can you explain/elaborate what you meant by "I couldnt stand the style of the menu that was required for the software button"? I would very much like to be able to turn HSW on/off at will and not just have it be part of auto climate settings.

Thanks!

It's easy to route the wire from the sccm to the bcm, you just need to remove or loosen the panels on the side of the center console and just push the wire through there. I think I used a coat hanger and just taped the wire to it and pushed it gently through, it's pretty simple. After that just tuck it up and zip tie it to other wires and you'll be good to go!

To activate the software button you have to change the entire style of the menu. I liked having the menu buttons on the bottom instead of having to go to a central home menu, so I just let it activate when it should and it's been fine so far for me.

Thanks! Wow that's interesting. So the way you have it set up... HSW comes on whenever you press the auto button? Have you ever tried pressing auto and then going into the climate settings screen and toggle off everything? I wonder if HSW would stay on.

Which hvac unit did you get, the new one that ford is using to install the heated wheels?

The pic below isn’t mine but may be helpful to some people who don’t have the cooled seats but want the heated seats and wheel.

This would work for me as I do have heated seats. Would anyone happen to have a part number for this version of HVAC unit?

No, it just comes on on its own. I don't do anything to activate it, it's just on when it's cold. I think I have my comfort settings set and all, but that's it and it's not like it only comes on when my truck is warming itself up at a departure time, if it's cold enough outside it just turns on.

I see. That actually sounds pretty good! Can you share the FORscan changes that you made for this to end up working?

I would suggest calling a dealer and asking them for the part number. You can give them the vin in the picture. I would then take the PN and find it for cheaper online.

Just wanted to clarify here too, you can have HSW on a pro with control via the 12" display without needing a new HVAC module but bear in mind it impacts the appearance of your menu/UI

source: I have HC seats, and HSW running off of stock pro HVAC controlled via synch UI
