By chance do you have a metallic item or water bottle in the rear most cupholder in the center console right next to the shifter? The wireless keyless entry receiver is right below that area and a large metallic object or even a steel water bottle could as a shield or even Faraday cage, blocking the signal from your key fob from being properly received.
I think that receiver is for starting the truck. Each door (including frunk and tailgate) should have its own keyless entry receiver.

That makes more sense. I certainly didn't notice any change when I removed the cupholder garbage can thing.

In case anyone's interested:

Took my truck to the dealer today and after replacing the 12v battery (which surprised me...I showed 100% SOH and SOC when I tested at home) they determined the issue to be with the BCM (Body Control Module). They have a replacement on order.

Why that went out when they replaced the BMS sensor and did the BECM update (recent recall) is anyone's guess. But there you have it.

Thanks again for all the input.

Hello All,

I have been going through the same exact issue here in Colorado Springs. Iā€™ve had it at the dealership twice for a combined 11 days, and they have found no resolution. They replaced the BCM(Body Control Module) last Tuesday, and still the same issue. The passive lock works with the key FOB within about 3-4 inches of the door handle, but no farther. It used to work with the FOB in my pocket. While I am relieved to find that I am not the only one, clearly this seems to indicate an error in the new software packet. Iā€™m thinking that maybe someone missed a zero on some sensitivity setting (30 cm instead of 300 cm?). Iā€™m totally spitballing that example, but I think that clearly, until Ford realizes that the coding has a problem, weā€™re stuck.

My dealership has been playing the back and forth game with the ā€˜Field Service Teamā€™ at Ford, and theyā€™re not really coming up with any clear ideas for the service team here at Phil Long Ford at Chapel Hills in Colorado Springs.

I have also created a case with Ford Customer service, and they have ā€˜escalatedā€™ the issue. Somehow, the ā€˜Field Service Teamā€™ needs to understand that this is an issue that may affect many customers. Iā€™m betting that there may be a lot of people out there who just donā€™t realize that they have an issue. I could imagine a lot of busy, preoccupied people just shrugging their shoulders, and using the phone app, or just the unlock button on the FOB and not making the correlation that the passive lock/unlock feature isnā€™t working as advertised. Best of luck to everyone, and hopefully it gets resolved soon.

As I mentioned above, I am working with an agent on the customer service side at Ford. Her name is Kiara, and her e-mail address is [email protected]

Any feedback for her that more people are experiencing the issue, might help realize a solution sooner.

As you can see from my post, weā€™re having the exact same issue, and in my case the BCM module replacement didnā€™t fix my passive lock/unlock issue. By the way, we are going to be visiting Victoria in early July while on vacation. Itā€™s a truly beautiful spot, and while my wife and I have been, my daughter has not, so weā€˜re very much looking forward to it. Cheers, Darren Miller.
