The front bumper (actually, the front 1/3 of my truck) was replaced due to an accident. My body shop has spent weeks trying to locate a small trim piece that attaches to the front bumper, but nobody can identify it. I even went to the local dealership to show the parts manager what part is missing (looking at a Lightning on their lot - see picture), but they could not identify the part in the Ford parts diagram. The part is roughly 1 1/2 inches by 30 inches, about an eighth inch thick. It attaches to the bumper via five tabs on the back. We've come to the conclusion that the standard Lightning parts diagram is missing the listing for this part.

@Ford Motor Company, any help identifying and locating this part would be appreciated!

Do you have pictures of the damage?

Long shot, but can you get your hands on the old one? The part number is likely stamped or molded onto the back of the part itself. Now if it just came off easily and would go back on without damage there are a few thousand of us that would be willing to help out with that.

Thanks for the idea, but the accident happened last Fall. It took five months to repair. I doubt the body shop still has the original part. But I'm guessing that this part would come out pretty easily given the rather large slots in the bumper where this trim piece attaches.

Can you send a picture of the slots so we can see how it comes off? Better to know than to break the tabs.

I’m curious how bad it was and they decided not to total the truck.
That's a long story. The truck should have been totaled. Basically, the insurance adjuster did not look at the vehicle themself and depended on the judgment of an individual at the tow lot where they evaluate vehicles for repair or to be totaled. The original repair estimate was $16,000.00, which most anyone could see was way too low. The adjuster decided to have the truck repaired. All said and done, the repairs were over $46K. I was out of town on vacation when this went down and could not pursue the decision. I had to let this play out as determined by the adjuster.

My advice to anyone under a similar scenario is to be more involved in the decision to repair or total the vehicle and to advocate for your own interests.

See the picture below, but you can't see much since the front was wrapped up to keep all the pieces from falling off.

BTW, the accident was my fault. :crying:

I've seen this diagram and looked at it with the parts manager at the local Ford dealer. The missing piece is not shown on this diagram. It is a long, flat, thin piece that does not look like anything here. We concluded that Ford omitted this part from this diagram.

The body shop ordered the part you referenced and it was not the correct part.

Open your frunk and you will see the part I need just peeking out from the bottom lip of the hood.

mistakes happen, hopefully the trucks did its job and kept everyone safe. I can see the center light bar is still there, so it couldn’t have been that bad…. Was it parts or labor that drove the cost?

The part number on the small trim piece (partially) matches the entire front bumper cover.

@SpaceEVDriver I assume that you removed the trim piece from your bumper to take this picture. If so, MUCH THANKS! I'm now wondering if this trim piece is considered part of the bumper cover assembly. This makes me wonder why it is missing from the replacement bumper cover.

If still possible, could you take a picture of the entire trim piece, both front and back?

Thanks!
