Android Auto and Local Music start / stop?

I have music set to play from a local android app when AA starts on my truck, and it will start, stop, wait for a time, then maybe start again.

Sometimes, I can get it to play by starting FM radio, then going back into AA, and hitting Play.

I'm using Symfonium as my local player, but I've tested Poweramp and gotten the same results.

Wondering if anyone else is seeing similar results, or if there might be something I can do to improve this experience?

I've been using this app and it starts playing as soon as AA is connected.

When the app has an update it will fall out of the AA app shortcuts though, just have to re-add it.

So, no start stop with your music?

Do you use the built in navigation, or Google Maps / Waze?
Are you connected wirelessly?

It starts playing music for me basically as soon as I start the truck. If AA doesn't connect for some reason, then nothing works, obviously. But that is only if I left it running and go in a store and come back, etc. The power button in the dial on the screen will start and stop the music, and the next/previous buttons will switch songs, I get a song title in the dashboard as well.

I use google maps via wireless AA like 90% of the time. If I am traveling somewhere that I have to DC fast charge, I use the built-in nav because it supposedly preheats the battery when you get close to your charger.

OK, so the only differences I see is Waze, and the android app.

I'll play around on my end and see if I can get good results like you're getting.

Try turning off all audio from waze

In my Lightning Pro I tried using a blue tooth connection for audio and had drop-outs and disconnects frequently, too many times a minute to make it usable.

I was using 2 old devices for the audio, an iPod and a Zune. But other posters have had similar issues with newer iPhones, etc. There are plenty of YouTube videos about the issues with BlueTooth as well.

The USB connection would not work with my "old" devices - the truck said they were charging only devices. I think newer devices might work through the USB according to some posts?

I was able to get a stable no drop-out audio connection using an old FM transmitter device (iTrip) between the iPod or Zune or a portable XM radio receiver and the FM radio on an unused FM channel, but I didn't like the spaghetti (wires) for power and audio connections.

So after some research I found a YouTUbe vid that showed how to burn music to a USB memory device formatted in "exfat" - that works perfectly. I put a 500GB SSD in a USB case (case is about $10 on Amazon), formatted the SSD in exfat using Windows, then transferred all my downloaded and burned from CD music files from my computer to the SSD.

I have been combing the web for what seems like a year trying to find someone else that has this problem. I have an Alpine iLX-507 head unit that I connect my Samsung S24 Ultra to through wireless Android Auto. I primarily just use Google Maps and Poweramp.

AA will start automatically as does Poweramp. Somedays it runs flawlessly. Others not so much. Sometimes it starts to play music from Poweramp. After a few minutes, sometimes as soon as the very next track, the music stops but the app is still running like nothing has happened. You can pause, hit play again, hit next track, doesn't matter, the app acts like it is functioning normally but no music is heard.

If you leave it alone, let's say track #1 is playing but then the music cuts out and stops. The app will keep going and going. It advances to track 2 maybe even track 3 on its own and suddenly the music turns back on but the music it plays is still from track 1 where it left off even though the app say it's playing track 3. At this point if you hit next track, the app will advance to track 4 but you hear track 2. It's the most bizarre thing and drives you nuts.

At this point I usually end up shutting off the head unit completely, let it sit shut off for a minute, restart (reboot) the head unit, and all if right with the world again. This happens once or twice daily. It's very annoying.

I have updated the head unit's firmware, updated Poweramp, and checked for the latest AA and Android OS updates. Nothing changes. I am at a loss. I almost think it could be the head unit but I don't have another Android phone or another head unit to try
