Anyone using a Ford Connected Charge Station (the non-Pro Ford charger)?

Looks like Ford is recommending this for the Mach-E. But given that 2024 F150’s can only do 48 amps the Ford Connected Charge Station (non-Pro) seems like a good option for 2024 F150 lightnings?

One nice feature for me that I believe exists with this unit is the ability to remotely lock off charging access through the Ford Pass app?

Any other nice features?

Btw the only reason I’m looking at this more expensive option is that Ford charging units are eligible under California’s PG&E rebate program, whereas the Tesla etc units are not.

And if anyone has had any success or hiccups claiming the $700 rebate from PG&E would love to hear about that as well.

It will probably be reliable, but if you want any useful data and better control, I would go aftermarket. Emporia is good. Chargepoint is overpriced, but good.

Check with your local power company for any subsidized units.

I was given one for free when I bought my PRO. Works great and haven't had any problems so far. I can even set charge output through the Fordpass app. I have it set at 36 amps right now.

I have one and it works (charges) fine. It has similar connectivity problems to the FCSP. If I had it to do over again, I’d buy an Emporia, pocket a few hundred dollars, and have a better EVSE.

I bought mine at full price because it was the only one compatible for the backup power feature. However, the backup power feature requires A LOT of additional investment (5K$-7K$ CAD)to work and is actually not possible in my area. (not CSA certified or other quebec regulation). At this point might be better of with a gas generator that could kick in if I am not home with the truck.

Otherwise, I do run it at 80A since I had some overhead in my electrical panel. It does charge faster, but on an overnight charge, a normal 50A charger would probably do just fine with my 23 Lariat Standard Range. If you have a Long Range and use it a lot during the day, you might appreciate the faster 80A charge speed.

The "advanced features" of the pro charger, I absolutely never used. The Cabin Pre Conditioning works without the pro charger if I am not mistaking... The charger app is clunky and not really well integrated in ford pass.

I'm pretty sure other ford or third party chargers have similar features, at a cheaper price. I can see the Pro Charger be useful to manage fleets of EV, but for home use, unless you really want to go the "backup charger" with your f150, it is hard to justify the extra cost.

Thanks and apologies, my original post maybe wasn't as clear as it should have been. I've updated it so that hopefully it's clearer I'm asking about the non-Pro Ford charger.

I couldn't find any other posts in the forum about this charger btw so I imagine not many others are using it?

The Fordpass control panel for the FCSP has been horribly unreliable, join the club, IMHO, once you get it to hold at your prefered charge rate don't fool with it anymore, getting it to immediately adjust to alternate rates might take multiple attempts before you can get it to take.

You must have the FCSP.
The FCCS max charge rate is 48 amps.
