I was on a road trip this weekend and tried using two different v4 Superchargers and both gave me a charger activation fault. I'm using and A2Z Pro adapter and all v3 stations worked great. It almost got me in a serious jam though.

v4’s have built in adapters (“magic dock.”). Did you try that?

V3 and V4 is not part of the equation: only TESLA decides 'which' locations are available for "NACS Compatible" other EVs, like ours... it matters not whether V3 or V4...

V4 units are 'built' with the Magic-dock adapter built in, but that is ONLY for future usage, if deployed, by TESLA. It has no bearing on whether 'we' can use these locations, or not.

The ONLY way to know if you can use ANY Tesla Location is to check with TESLA, and the Tesla MAP, with the ONLY Filter used for 'Nacs Compatible'...
'Other EVs' filter will also work, as they have the Magic-Dock adapters available... well, at least most of the units - the other week in west Atlanta, that location had at least 3 that had been stolen from the unit.

How about sharing the site’s location? It would make it possible for us to research the issue.

I just used a brand new V4 site last week that had just opened and had Magic Docks, so some of them are opening up new and available.

99% it is a station not open to non-Teslas. The concept that 17,800 Superchargers is not ALL isn’t clear to many people.

Tesla app or Tesla website, or FordPass, or even PlugShare tell you correctly.

I used a V4 in Baytown, Tx. before and after Thanksgiving on a trip from FL to San Antonio. Worked as advertised and was able to charge without disconnecting my travel trailer.
Too bad some are being vandalized.

So. The first station is Helen, Ga and there was a Rivian charging a ok, the second site was Maclenny, FL. Both sites listed in the app as available with adapter. I have used other v4 sites in both NC and SC with zero issues. Magic Dock and adapter. These two installations were brand new so there appears to be something different. I've been road tripping EVs for years so I am very comfortable with how it all works.

Agree, however PlugShare isn’t totally trustworthy. I am in conversation with them now about a V4 site they say is Tesla Only, that I have visited personally and charged via the Magic Dock. Tesla App shows it is open, but PlugShare has not updated.

Our Public Charging app shows it as available also.

Bottom line, check the Tesla source to be safe when traveling.

Edit: After several days and email back and forth’s, PlugShare has update the site based on my input.

Good on them! 👍

Baytown Buc-ee’s on I-10 was the first time I’ve used the V4. I was happy to get the chance to try it out and it worked great. Hope to see more.

I have never seen a PlugShare entry that incorrectly said a location WAS open when it wasn't though.

Read the comments and see who charged there.

Right. Says Tesla Only. Also brand new, so they clearly haven't received info that it is open.

My point was I haven't seen a station say it was open to others when it isn't open.
