Ford.com Multi‑Factor Authentication

I just received this message from ford.com. They now support multi-factor authentication on our Ford.com accounts.

Enhance your account security with Multi‑Factor Authentication.

You can now use Multi‑Factor Authentication to add an extra layer of protection to your account. If you already use Multi‑Factor Authentication for some Ford services, this won’t change. Simply enable this feature in your account settings to extend this security to every time you sign in to Ford. You can choose “Remember this Device” to reduce the number of times you are prompted. If you are using an iOS mobile device, we recommend accessing your account settings from Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari for an optimal experience.

I got this as well, I haven't switched it on yet.

Interesting.. I’ve had MFA on for months using an auth app and not sms..

They offered 3 options: sms, email or auth app.

I tried it and then turned it off. It kept hindering ford pass app and when I am opening the app I don’t want any delays.

Exactly. My first thought was “I wonder what this screws up?”

Have it “remember” that specific device and you won’t need MFA on it again.

I see no reason for this level of security on my FordPass account.

I also will never turn on anything like this until lots of others have, because, well, yup.

I turned it on and choose to remember. It has not bugged me for it again yet. I choose the auth app option.

I've enabled this (with an authenticator app) and have encountered no issues. As a few others have indicated, on my mobile device (Android) I had it remember the device on first login and every access of FordPass has been fine (no prompting, no delays, etc).
I see the addition as a good thing since there is the ability within my FordPass account to change things that are associated with my credit card, and services I may (or may not) be subscribed to.
