Very cool, the Rouge plant is pretty amazing. I saw some pictures of the system I support in there too, portions of it anyway. If you ever do the Rouge tour you get to use some of those tools that measure bolt tightness as you tighten things down.

It is wild once you get in there how much goes into the truck and how many people are involved. I guess it has made me a bit more forgiving when some issues come up, because it's simply amazing that any trucks get built at all. 80% of the difficulty in any new vehicle launch is figuring out how to build it and at scale. That's a big part of why you will see pre-prod versions of many vehicles on the streets for 1-2 years before they hit production. There is of course some ongoing R&D, but it's mostly retooling and training and figuring out how to get the best quality you can as quick as you can.

I have heard they have been making changes already to the EV center to increase production capacity, I believe part of it was the charging center. They didn't have enough bays to keep vehicles going at the new rate they are now expecting.

It's interesting that the right fender has a punch out where the emblem goes. I guess it's cheaper to make mirror-image casts for body panels?

I'm hoping someone comes up with a fun modification for that right panel.

Not sure sounds plausible, but how come the ICE trucks don't have a punch hole on both sides of the rear fenders? LOL

Because the designers were going for symmetry. Like with the current ICE truck fender badges.

Mostly because you don’t typically fuel up ICE vehicles in garages, especially for long times. For EV, draping a cord for hours on one side may be an annoyance (walking obstacle, wall mounting, etc.). I expect ford considered during engineering the body panels, or is considering, an option for active ports on both sides. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen other EVs that offer J1772 on one side, and CCS on the other (Audi, I think?).

I think it has been confirmed there is only one charge port

symmetry would also be 2 doors on the ICE LOL
I really don't care either way just asking the question

Fun fact. There is a VIN on one of the station display screens in the OP article.

Here is the window sticker for it. Obviously, Ford hasn't changed it yet from the current ICE stickers because the standard equipment list still lists a capless fuel filler and Selectshift.

It has, but only for the 2022 model year. Engineering designs start long before they finalize options, and they try to keep them for at least a few years. They may have been considering it prior to finalizing the 2022 options, and may add it for 2023+.

Where did you go to get that window sticker?

Wouldn't it be risky to have the charge cord on the pass side and out of view by the driver as he enters the truck? Or, does the car not "start" if it is plugged in? ⚡

The charge point is in the drivers side front fender.
