This worked for me as well. I remember having an issue with my last Super Duty in 2016...I wonder if it's a Ford truck thing...regardless, the "use both methods" method worked! :)
I think I figured it out this afternoon: wired seems to really work better to plug it in after the truck is powered up. Had good luck with that while running some errands after work today. Plugging in before turning the truck on seems to confuse it.
For wired CarPlay, does anyone else seem to have to disconnect the USB cable from the truck as well as the phone to get it to pay attention? Or am I just being impatient?
Today was the day! Picked up "Mjolnir" early this afternoon and put quite a few miles on it already. :D I think we were in and out of the dealership in 30 minutes; did the trade quote yesterday when we popped in for our status update (and got exactly what I wanted for the trade!). Out of pocket...
Today's update: stopped by our dealership this afternoon, said "so, where's our truck?" since I had (as predicted) not gotten a phone call. Sales guy did some explaining on the intake process and timeline, etc., etc., and my wife flat out asked "ok, so what's our timeline?". The answer...
Just got the "complete purchase" email at 5:15pm; https://shop.ford.com/vehicleordertracking shows the status updated as of today, and in "final preparation" mode. My dealer closed two hours ago (4pm) and they're closed on Sundays...guess I know what I'm doing Monday afternoon!

No email, no picture, no change in two weeks, shipped literally a month ago, still sitting in Portland at the rail yard apparently. I'll bug Ford chat again on Monday, because my sales guy is useless (he's the one who said he couldn't sell it when it arrives because of a recall it doesn't have...).
Thanks for the trip report! My wife and I drive about 18K miles a year, long weekends and that sort of thing, so this is very helpful information (even if we're geographically nowhere near you...the info and details are still relevant). :)
Congrats on the R1S, looks like a great vehicle! We drove one and really liked it, ultimately chose the Lightning because we're comfortable with Ford trucks...but you're now making me rethink things.
I expect some depreciation, but that's pretty steep...doesn't make me happy for prospects for...
Yeah, no recalls listed for my VIN, only the CSP (which I knew about). Truck was marked "built" on 09/25.
Interestingly, the https://shop.ford.com/vehicleordertracking/ just updated to a delivery window of 10/21-11/03 (previously listed as 10/17-10/30). Ford.com account page shows new delivery...
