I think tailgate assist is the torsion rod inside the tailgate. It makes it lighter ro close. The dampner is the accessory shock which it does not have.

Another convoy picked up from the yard and it only took ONE car out of the 9 that were waiting to go to my dealer. One. It was a Ford Escape, nobody is in a rush and anxiously awaiting their Ford Escape.
