It's crazy how much state discounts matter. Some folks complain that NJ isn't all that EV friendly but I'm getting almost another 20% off when you factor in OTD pricing.

If you're good with wax, you should give ceramic coatings a try. I've use acrylic as well, but it's a bit tougher to fully get off. Process and time isn't all that a much different but the protection lasts longer.
In Alabama we have no discount for EV except for the 1 cent discount per KW overnight. They actually charge us a $200 fee per year for registration which I kind of understand. 50% of the fees are supposed to go to grants for EV infrastructure which is slowly getting better. It's too bad that the cost of installing dcfc increases exponentially when grants are involved. That is why we just installed 80 amp L2 for the time being.
We had the dealership GT wrapped for the looks of the flat finish but have used the high end ceramics on several of our TC Custom Broncos. Either way it gets expensive for a 37k truck that will be subjected to truck stuff.

I hope nobody attacks anyone here on the forum for considering your own options. Everyone has different wants, needs, and environment.

Sometimes, people cannot understand my down home rural environment and lifestyle, what with most of the Lightning buyers being upper middle class urban warriors.

I think I will probably be among the first to achieve a 400 mile ER range. Long ago I was able to get 50-60 mpg-e in my Escape Hybrid.

Here is my road tripping:

I go to town 2-3 times/week. I drive 3/4 mile across my farm across a creek to a single lane road through the hollar for another 4 miles. Then 10 miles of meandering 2 lane road with a max speed limit of 40 mph. The only things I ever do in town is Walmart, groceries, doctor, buy feed or diesel, then back to the farm.

When the creek is running hot 6 inches to 2 feet deep I park on the other side and ford with my SXS. When it runs more than 2 feet I cross with my JD 310 Backhor with Mamma in the bucket.

I am guessing I will recharge maybe once a month. Last year I put 5,000 miles on my Escape (no long range vacation, although I hope to change that with the Lightning).

The only things I will do with the Lightning Bed is haul fuel or water tanks or bags of feed, fertilizer, or seed. I have no need to protect the inner sidewalls. I will protect the bed with a Rural King Red Barn 4' x 6' Rubber Horse Mat 3/4" Thick - HORSEMAT ($46.99). There is very little trimming involved. Call me dumb or cheap.

I bought a $170.96 Car Covers Facctory Truck Cover Premium Edition Truck Cover
2022 Ford Model: F-150 Super Crew Cab with 5.7ft Extra Short Bed

It will do just fine to protect against all the bad weather, hail, dust, nesting felines and varmints, and other bad stuff we get way out here in the Kentucky woods.

A couple of comments about Kentucky:

Mark Twain once said that the World Would End and the people in Kentucky would learn about it 20 years later.

Kentucky was so wild that even the Indians (or should I say Native Americans?) hunted here but would not live here.

So what is the NJ rebate? I trying to figure out what I might be eligible for.

My intended use will not be much different except for the whole creek crossing thing. I live three miles from work. I will occasionally do the normal home depot type stuff but nothing crazy. I did not get the spray in bedliner from the factory because I think we use a superior product and my cost is less if we do it in house. I'll also use a bed mat as well because I like the look.

I'm most likely going with a Ceramic Coat on this truck. I'm getting my Harley Coated in 2 weeks and we'll see how the guy does before he does my truck.

It’s funny, on the Rivian forums one guy was on a rant about how only city slickers would order the 22 wheels. I described nearly the same environment.

“What do you define as off road? 80% of the roads in my town are unpaved. On a 5 mile drive to drop my kids off at school, less than 1 mile of that is on a maintained road. If you’re on the road and a car is coming the other way it’s a simple rule. The larger car pulls up on the bank and/or into the field so the other can pass.

If it rains, we get flash floods and since the roads aren’t maintained, we have to go through these if we want to get home. It’s not much, maybe 12” or so of water usually. Quite frankly it doesn’t look much different than some of the trails (non rock) videos I’ve seen”

I have full confidence either truck would be able to handle that, regardless of AT tires or not.

If anything, there’s a big difference in the tone and personalities of the two forums.

BBBBBBUTT I thought it was a no man left behind mission.
You forgot to fill in the gender box when we sent out the survey.

We’ll turn the train around but we’ll have to let everyone know their trucks are delayed because of you and only you.

Swwwww Good Catch, Thank you so much! Normally not a selfish person but in this case for my truck I'll gladly delay everyone else.

Much appreciated Conductor, and sorry everyone else. I mean what's an extra day or two when we've all been waiting over a year anyway.

Friend of mine just got his rivian. It’s nice truck, but for me it was way too small. Currently I’m driving Tundra, and rivian is just tiny. I think it’s like with iPhone. Once you go pro, it is impossible to go back to smaller screen
