Just now checked my Module Build Data (As-Built) and saw that my BCE Modules are populated! I also have a Tear Tag as well, so there's definitely some progress!

Strange though, because I also received a letter from Ford:

"While production of your vehicle was projected to begin the week of August 7, 2023, supply chain challenges continue to cause delays and uncertainty."

Whatever department sent that email (probably automated) likely isn't being updated on current status or progress (I hope).

Received same email today from Ford but the only word changed was XLT by PLATINUM..... to match my order....
Patience is the word of the day and you need even more after waiting for 2+ years for the truck to be built... Ultimately we will get our trucks. 😎

Though general production is continuing, it's likely a small part that will be added to the build after they park your trucks in a holding lot, this happened a couple times with MY-2022 production, whatever is missing prevents the production tracker from marking the trucks as "BUILT".

my dealer rep sent me a screen shot that my truck status is "plant quality hold off sight" and has been that status since 8/10 (blend date 8/9).

Awesome!!
Don't worry you have all the codes the entirety of which are listed below the BCE Modules header, we've seen this consistently for all Lightnings and even on ICE vehicles

Interesting that your original blend day was 8/11, but the truck did not hit in production until 8/15, this leads me to think they are doing some extensive QC on the 7/31 build week, remember, expanded plant capacity, expanded workforce, I suspect & hope the trucks are getting an extensive review before seeing a "BUILT" date.
I hope you’re correct. I am an original build week of 7/31 with an 8/04 blend date.

A couple folks on the 9/4 build week have been bumped out to 9/11.

thinking more about "plant quality hold" has me wondering if there is something wrong with this particular truck or perhaps the batch blended that week.

Don't know for sure, but when you double then triple last seasons weekly run rate and bring in a lot of new staff, though familiar with the F150 ICE, still a lot to learn about with the BEV, they might have a few QC issues to iron out.

This is exactly what I feared might be a problem with the plant expansion. I have a 8/18 blend date and was concerned the plant expansion would result in poorly built vehicles due to undertrained and underexperienced staff.

Well if this delay ends up being much longer I am not going to take delivery of a truck with a questionable quality build.

I hope there are no problems, you might recall (old timers on this forum) that the initial productions waves of 22's were held for extensive QC reviews, so that the MoCo to could validate that they were ready to release, those folks were chomping at the bit for Ford to issue the OK TO BUY order and release the trucks for shipping. It could be they are doing the exact same process now, to ensure the work processes and team are putting out good work.

Then there are the PART shortage emails many of you got, again a perfectly great truck possibly better than any produced before today, but waiting on a mundane yet important part.

When the time comes to test drive mine, there are certain items I will be paying attention to that will ultimately make me decide to take delivery or walk away.

This is exactly what I'm expecting and will eagerly wait it out. I reserved my XLT ER in May of '21 (ordered 12/22, build week 7/31/23, blend 8/04/23) and delays like this just add to my experience. I plan to take delivery of one of the most historic vehicles ever from the Ford family and if they want more time to make sure it was done right, I'm good with that.

A few things:

  • When driving at highway speeds (65+ MPH), there should be no steering wheel shimmy or vibrations that indicate out of balance wheels/tires. I have had new cars that have had this problem and always have to fight the dealership to re-balance the tires. What usually happens is they find a tire that is out of spec, but it's a big hassle and fight. This shouldn't happen on a $70k+ vehicle.
  • No interior rattles. Almost nothing irritates me more than interior rattles on a new car. Not that a rattle can't be fixed, but I don't want to fight the dealership on them.
  • The vehicle should drive straight with a good alignment. This may not necessarily be a reason to reject the vehicle, but I would make them performing an alignment a We Owe on the sales contract.
  • And generally if any features that SHOULD be there, but aren't (IE heated steering wheel and side view mirrors) and there's no clear path to getting them installed cost-free in the future, then I walk.
