Got this as a black Friday deal for $204. Plug it in and it works pretty straightforward. The app is not proprietary or necessary (it has RFID cards). It’s just some third-party app for managing a connected home called smart life. Non-coincidentally I can’t find any information about country of origin on the packaging the instructions or the website. Pretty sure I have a good guess though. 😉

Charging at 46 A and 234 V giving me 10.8 kW. Hoping it holds and this turns out to be a good little unit.

Buying high voltage, high current equipment from chinesium fake brands on Amazon is a very very bad idea. There is no such company as Jeekvisen. It has no certifications (UL, ETL, etc). It is made with inferior conductors. There is a high probability of it burning down your house.

I recommend you return it to Amazon right away and stop using it.

Oh, I would like to have made a better choice, but with things not going my way the last six months, water heater went out, washer and dryer broke, and xmas coming has soured my budget a little and ford warranty isn’t helping me with the fact that the charger that came with the truck sucks.
I need to be able to charge this truck closest fast charger is 50 miles away. And fast charging is more expensive than gas at this point.
This is at work in a shop and I am able to monitor it whenever I’m using it because it’s in my workspace. I’ll update any changes.

If it’s charging at 46A and uses the plug shown in the picture, you have the makings of a pyrotechnic time bomb waiting to go off. Especially if you have a cheap, Home Depot special receptacle.

We run welders all day off of these outlets. If that was the case wouldn’t the plug on the welder explode. I’m no electrician, but I’m assuming the welder that’s melting half inch plate is drawing probably more amps than 48. I turned it down to 40 anyways.

A welder is very intermittent duty and draws much less current than one might think.
40A would be the maximum allowed for charging from a 50A circuit per the NEC (80% of 50A).

Dont just take my word for it:

You’re not wrong it’s never plugged for more than three hours at a time at work lol. I already had a sneaking suspicion It shouldn’t run at 48 even though it has the capability seeing as any other 48 amp charger says it needs to be hardwired though this says that nowhere.
I’ll keep it at 40 or less only turn into 40 when I need the full juice. But next time our electricians here I’ll get his thoughts. I don’t like the location right now. Maybe I can get the company to foot the bill to hardwire it closer to the panel.
