2023 F150 lightning Lariat SR
Hi Guys,

I would like to ask if anyone is in the same situation as me, any suggestions?

Mine is 2023 Lariat SR, there is a Mercedes dealership near my home and they have FLO LV3 free charger. I charged for about an hour every week. The charging speed used to be 40kw/h, but now it is only 20kw/h. No one is using the charger at the same time, and all external conditions have not changed, but the speed has decreased. I noticed that this charger has always provided a maximum charging capacity of 60kwdc and there has been no change.

There is a similar situation. The shell near my home provides a 180kwdc charger. I used to charge it at a speed of 120kw/h, but recently it was only 60kw/h. I asked the staff and they confirmed that nothing had changed with the charger.

The only thing changed is the software version updated to IPMA-24.204.10.9

Not sure if this is the reason that charge speed decrease a lot.

Please let me know if you have any idea.

Thank you soooooooooo much!

My first thought was that if it's free, then they throttled the speed on the FLO unit, but if you're "paying" the rate of charge might increase.

Are you also getting free charging at the Shell charger?

FYI the software update you got ( IPMA-24.204.10.9) is more broadly known as BlueCruise 1.4. The '23 Lariat SR did not come standard with BC but it was an option as part of Co-Pilot 360 Active. BC or not, you would get better lane-keeping.

I haven't heard anyone mention DCFC charging issues with that update. But it's still rolling out slowly to 22's and 23's.

P.S. "kw/h" is a non-nonsensical unit in this context. Chargers are described in kW, a unit of power. If you charge at 40 kW for 1 hour, you would have used 40 kWh, a unit of energy. ;)

Don’t know what make/model charger that is, but DC chargers typically have multiple “power modules” that each process a set amount of power. My guess is this one had 2 25kW modules and one of them has failed. When it doubt go to a Tesla Super charger and see how much power it can give you.

One other thing to consider is once you get above a certain percentage The charge curve, i.e. how much power the truck will accept goes down.
So where are you starting your charge? What percentage on the GOM?-20%,30%80%?

It’s possible the new version is managing charging speeds differently, maybe for battery protection or thermal control.
