2023 XLT or 2022 Lariat?

Hello,

I am considering two different Lightnings right now. One is a 2023 XLT ER with 312a package. Heated seats and wheel, 9.6 kw, 360...15,000 miles, for @$47,000.

the other is a 2022 Lariat ER with 511a package I think. Max Tow, 9.6 kw and all the other added features you would expect. including the skylight(a negative for me) @$39,000. Also @15,000 miles. Branded title, dealer said truck shut down do to "no key in vehicle" error, lemon return. Repaired.

Are these decent prices? Is the 2023 worth another $8,000?

Ill be doing a lot of 400 mile trips and also towing my boat locally. Right now I have 2014 F250, 6.2 and its a good truck. just interested in getting an electric truck. I have rented Mach E's for road trips and they worked well for that.

Depends on what you need and like. How much do the luxury features matter to you? How about larger wheels? I'm happy with my trash truck, although I would have liked active cruise control and plan to get out the soldering iron and add it sometime this year. At least there's not much chance of my metal roof leaking.

The debates between advocates of 15 inch center screens and 12 inch screens with knobs and buttons are entertaining, but it comes down to personal preference again. I haven't regretted the lack of Karaoke on my small screen, but maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

Given how complicated these trucks are regardless of trim level, any difference between whatever warranties you get could be important.

No idea about what's a good price now, but either way you'll get a really nice ride...

Build Date (on top of sticker driver's door pilar) might be handy to know as I would make a guess that later builds have a smaller chance of a battery module cell failure. The XLT 312a has adaptive cruise control (not Blue Cruise) which I think is enough as BC requires eyes & hands? on the wheel anyway. The XLT might have a higher carrying capacity by a little bit? I wish, a bit, that I had the Lariat auto folding mirrors, and maybe the 15" screen being more futuristic with a few more apps (karaoke!, games!?). Leather seats? High quality ones can be bought for the XLT for $1200? Does the Lariat have a pass through rear window and is that important? Heated rear seats and is that important? (can add heating pads to the XLT) Extended warranty beyond the battery system which is already 8yr/100Kmi might be smart. Tough call with the Lariat being cheaper. Any deletes like heated steering wheel on either model? Memory seats on the Lariat could be important if more than one driver.

I think you’re less likely to run into battery issues with the 23. That said, the XLT looks bare to me when I see them. The tailgate lightbar missing makes me sad.

When I ordered the XLT312a Feb, 2022, I thot the lightbar was included as part of the signature light design. It was not. But I actually prefer the Putco under tailgate light bar that is useful for the large turn signals and reverse lighting!

I'd sit in them both and drive them to see which I liked better. They're both great for different reasons.

Being happy with my Lariat, I'd personally lean that way and add the extended warranty from Granger Ford.

The branded title would be an issue for me. I understand that this situation is a bit different than a wreck rebuild, but my personal policy is to not even consider one.

I also have no regrets not getting a Lariat. For a truck, I prefer simplicity.
