2024 Lightning XLT "build & price" AND window sticker both say it's included - it's not: What now?

Following. Pretty close to purchasing an XLT and just checked. Same problem. No front sensors, but they are listed on the window sticker and ford web site.

I just pulled up the "Ford Build and Price" web site and if you select XLT it shows it comes with the Tow Technology package and when you click the "information" icon it opens a box that says "Forward Sensing System" as part of the Tow technology system. Dealer was convinced it should be there, but doesn't want to cross Ford by changing the as-built data with Ford system tools.
I wish you luck with the battle. My '24 Lariat with the Tow Technology Package listed the trailer brake controller in the same way your Forward Sensing System. Ford just opens a ticket and ignores you. I filed a complaint with the state AG's office and their response was the manufacturer falsely advertised, not the dealership in the state, so they could do nothing.

If you find a way to make traction, I'll give it another whirl.

The first approach taken by a Ford field engineer was to say that the customer is both mistaken and confused. Quoting the Field engineer: "Forward sensing system on the window sticker refers to the ADAS drive systems (cameras and radar) that support lane keeping and auto emergency braking listed immediately after forward sensing." Of course, when I sent him the video by Ford Media located at WWW.fordesourcebook.com I've heard nothing from him. This web site is listed at the top of the 2024 order guide where the order guide says: "To learn more about the features on this vehicle, go to www.fordesourcebook.com. My dealer is trying to figure out how to get permission to program the IPMA so if the hardware is installed the system should work as advertised. He needs permission because there are so many features that can be turned on with simple code additions that the customer didn't pay for that they give a short list of the only "approved" changes to as built data. Take a look at the video from Ford.

I was given some advice that if the dealer comes up empty handed, and Ford won't allow him to program the IPMA, I should start a claim with the Better Business Bureau under the BBB Auto Line program. Ford is participant and it is apparently a risk-free way to force Ford into non-binding arbitration. I'm only talking about a $1K to $1.5K out of pocket cost ($2k MSRP parts and labor) to Ford, so that will likely be my next step. I'm also looking to see if any qualified collision houses who reprogram modules all the time can actually change the as built data. I sure like the truck! Sort of becoming a " principle " thing now, however.

Scott, also check to see if your truck has "tailgate assist". The truck I am looking at does not, but again, it is on the window sticker.

Good catch. It's on my window sticker and clearly not on my truck. Door definitely drops like a rock. I'll add this to my list to bring to the dealer's attention.

Update: Watched a YouTube video and opened up the taillight assembly and the "assist" assembly isn't installed. It was $106 on Amazon, so I ordered it just to see if it will actually fit. It has the post that the damper snaps onto. I'll report back.

It's proving difficult to find someone skilled with FORScan. I've got an appointment with a diesel performance shop that has experience with FORScan, so maybe I've lucked out.

If You add Your location, even a general area, in Your avatar lines it might be helpful for members with such experience to DM You.

I've managed to add a picture in My avatar, but there don't seem to be any additional fields to add things like location. I've been all over My Profile. This is probably why I'd be dangerous with FORScan.

Got it! Thanks.

I posted this in the FORScan thread - but the 2024 Order Guide does state that the Forward Sensing System was removed from the Tow Technology package for XLT and Pro.

Ford F-150 Lightning 2024 Lightning XLT "build & price" AND window sticker both say it's included - it's not: What now? 1736452713467-p3

The website has been persistent about displaying outdated information. E.g., in 2023 it still had features for the Lariat that were removed that year (underseat storage).

I would think if it shows on the window sticker though, that's a legal obligation. In the '23 Lariat case, it was not on the window sticker so no recourse.

Hi, I was shown this after I'd put 500 miles on the truck. It was helpful in that the dealer understands it's a Ford marketing department problem. Before they found the "delete", they were insisting Forward Sensing System was part of the Pre-Collision and AEB system and that I was just confused. I think you suggested on the FORScan thread that I search the ICE F-150 threads. Thanks, I found someone who added the sensors on 2021, so we'll see how badly I damage my truck with FORScan.

You can do it easily, just create a thread if you need help.

Sue for false advertising. I’ve noticed a few things that Ford advertises but isn’t actually true.
I’ll take “Cargo nets and spare tire locks” for $600 Alex
