I thought I'd share my chat with ford regarding this.

First of all, the Ford field engineer clearly doesn't know as much as their chat AI.

They say that only the dealer can file a misbuilt claim, and they can only do it within 90 days of the truck being delivered to THEM

The GM of my dealership sent along the following email:

"I had a lengthy conversation with our Ford regional rep on this, and sent him all the details necessary to escalate this matter. He was reaching out to the product team in Dearborn and will be back in touch with me when he has a response. He seemed initially confident in being to find a solution or resolution in a timely manner."

I'll keep my fingers crossed, meanwhile I've researched the Better Business Bureau Auto Line program.

I have an appointment with my dealer's service department tomorrow. We'll see where that gets me.

I wouldn't have noticed except I went to use a tesla super charger (and needed to get REALLY close) and there was no beeping and i had to turn the camera on manually. Came here and found this thread.

Have them check the "Locking Removable Tail gate with Tail Gate Assist". It will likely be locking and likely be removable, but I'll bet you $2 it drops like a stone without the "Tail Gate Assist" damping mechanism. I ordered one ($106) and will put it on this week, but just another example... as if you need one. I assume you saw the post that shows that "Forward Sensing System" was actually deleted from all 2024 XLTs. So, it's not a Ford Marketing problem. I've attached a short Ford Video in case the dealer tries to convince you that "Forward Sensing System" is really the "Pre-Collision Assist system".

It's taken awhile, but the "Build and Price" web site has finally changed to reflect the fact that the 2024 Lightning with the XLT Trim does not have the "Forward Sensing System". As late as last week, "Forward Sensing System" was shown as a feature of the Tow Technology Package and when I ran through a Build and Price this afternoon, the Tow Technology Package no longer reflects the inclusion of the "Forward Sensing System".

It took a while, but it looks like Ford has fixed the Advertising issue going forward.

Tell Ford to buy it back. Don't expend energy on their problem. They have whole teams dedicated to this.

(800) 392-3673 and tell them you wish to initiate a buyback.

I picked up my XLT last week. I brought both of these items to the attention of the dealer. They were able to successfully order the tailgate assist and install it prior to delivery so that is fixed. They opened a tech case with ford on the forward sensing and Fords initial response was “we’re not sure what to do. We will get back to you “. I am going to ask them to file a misbuilt claim per the other post above.

Congratulations on your XLT! My dealer wrote recently: "It sounds like this has become a significant issue and Ford is trying to figure out how remedy it."

I'm going to give them a bit longer. Please keep me posted if your dealer gets a response. Thanks!

Sadly, Ford isn't going to do anything about this. If you continue to gripe they may give you some reward points, but that won't help you get the feature.

Then it will be a lemon and they can buy it back in 2 years. Litigated with Ford before. When it is a systemic issue like this they do not want it to blow up into a class action. They fixed one of the problems already so we are on the right track.

ford works slowly but have seen them fix issues on my lightning.

I had a steering wheel heat delete on my 23 lariat and they said I would eventually be able to add it. Didn’t hold my breath. Sure enough about 6 months later they added it for me.
Hopefully Ford or the dealer can make this situation whole with a credit but as you know there credits are for $300 but we all know it would cost a lot more to add it.

Would you mind letting me know who your dealer is; in case my dealer (Kendall Ford in Bend Oregon) could learn something from them? With 20K lightnings sold in Q4, you'd think a good number would be XLT and that a class action attorney would have been all over this already.
