I wonder if there is an advantage ordering a 2025 Lightning rather then picking one of the new 2024 models in dealer inventory?

I say this because I leased a 2024 Platinum this month after seeing all the huge incentives and rebates available.

When looking at the order guide for 2025 there are no meaningful changes for 2025. In fact changes eliminate and delete a few items while the truck seems to be identical.

Changes that the order guide lists
spare tire is no longer standard but now an option
Deleted work surface on XLT and Flash
Keypad on drivers side deleted and now a dealer installed option

What am I missing?

There’s nothing I’ve seen in the 2025s that’s worth waiting for vs. getting a 2024 with lower pricing or better financing.

900 years is a long time to wait.

Like others have said, nothing really worth waiting for in 2025. Grab a 24 if you find one that works for you.

And here I was being stupid for worrying about parts availability in 15 years.
parts availability in 15 years doesn’t worry me. I will be 93 years old by then 😴 Hopefully

Get the 2024. The '25s actually reduce the size of the ER battery pack in a couple trim configurations and they have fewer colors to pick from. And yeah, they have some good incentives right now and 0% financing on the '24s.

The 2025 Flash is a downgrade from the 24 model with the new medium size battery. Glad that my brother bought a new 24 recently.

I think they also removed the door keypad for 2025 amongst other things. Ford has seemingly made no reason for someone to buy the latest Lightning, which is weird to me but what do I know.

I agree on the keypad thing. When I bought my '23 I did not see much use for the keypad. Now I use it daily, especially to lock the doors as the button on the handles does not always work on the first press.

I went for the '24 Plat as well. If the '25 had adopted NACS natively that may have been somewhat of a nudge, but even then I don't know that it's worth giving up the keypad and spare tire since I only need NACS a couple times per year.

I think you (and I) did the right thing and took the money and ran, and have a few features they are trying to cut.

I was going to wait for a 25 but the incentives on the 24s were awesome and the 24s come with a spare and keyless entry pad and I bought the Tesla adapter for Supercharger charging. The 25s have decent control
