It will be a shameful day when a squid beats a jarhead at anything (If squid and jarhead are now concidered offensive terms please forgive me, I've only recently broken my window licking habit 35 years after I left the Corps.)
Well this squid was a Devil Doc so jarheads were shamed on a daily basis…. Now take your Motrin and change your socks 🤣

Wow. 50k miles. Impressive. Thank you for documenting your journey. I know I plan on keeping mine for the long term and hope mine performs as g9od as yours.
I know it is early but if the half-shafts hold up, I think it could last 300,000 miles with ease.

You should have that by the time the next gen comes out.

I have a reservation for the Cybertruck with the 500 mile range. Between wind, temps, battery degradation, and speed, I really need a 500 mile range I just know Tesla is going to charge a fortune for it. I'd buy an addition batter to sit in the bed of the truck if I could get it.

Great write up! Thank you for sharing!

Oof. And I thought I was driving a lot. I received my Lightning (Sparky) July 7, 2022 and just passed 22k miles. Like you I live in a very rural area (South Georgia). 30 miles sounds about right to get to just about anything. 😂 I had a Ford C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid before and loved it. Living in the country on 8 acres meant I needed a truck and I wasn't about to get a traditional truck because of the fuel expense. Sparky changed all that, and I'm very, very happy with my purchase. At the end of the day the premium ($10k to $20k) over the traditional ice F-150 Lariat should easily be made up for in fuel prices. Here our electricity is .12/kWh, so it's going to take me about 4 times longer to meet the savings you're getting at .035. Still easily done as I plan on to hold onto Sparky for at least 10 years.

I head up to Atlanta and Augusta, or down to Cape Canaveral, Tampa or Orlando maybe once a quarter. I completely agree about the charging problem. Time should solve that issue. Let's face it, everyone driving electric (including Tesla, though they have had far longer to build out their infrastructure) are still super early adopters. We're the ones dealing with the problems and getting everything ironed out. I'm sure the same thing was said when we went from horses to gas too. "I can bring feed with me for my horse. Those fancy petro stations aren't close enough to fill up that crazy automatable."

I've only had an issue with the frunk (fixed once they figured out there was water intrusion into the control module) and the daily air dam warnings, which I've got used to ignoring. Oh, and within the first two months I had a battery fault error. Pulled off at the first exit, turned the truck off, turned it on and nothing else ever showed up. Dealership said they didn't see anything in the scans when I took it in.

And Sync. It's sooooo slow and is very unpredictable at random times. Rebooting on startup occasionally. Oh, and the charging pad overheats everything I put on it (Galaxy phones and iPhones. Kinda feel like another couple of dollars in a better pad would have been worth the investment, but Ford reported (during this week's earnings) they lost $60k/electric vehicle they've sold due to the expansion of their plants and such. Not sure that's completely accurate, but bean counters can move things around however they want.

How did you specify the range you wanted when you placed a reservation? When I go to the reservation page, it just says ‘give me money now, and we’ll tell you about the truck sometime in the future.’

It reminds me of the people who say they reserved a $39k Pro, when every reservation was the same, with no model designated.

The $0.035 is per mile. I pay about $0.075 per k/hr.
I had forgotten about the charging pad since I stopped using it as soon as I realized how hot my phone was getting. Heat kills lithium ion batteries.
As far as the early adopting goes, I agree. I think I've been fortunate to make it work. The closest fast charger is 60 miles away in one direction and over a hundred in another, but still further in a third direction. I figure if I can make it work, 90% of people can.
As far as Sync goes, I went through a period where it would freeze up. Ford sent an update and it has been glitch free but is still terribly slow.
I've had my Silverado up for sale for a couple of weeks. When it sells I'm going put my car up for sale. I'll be back down to a single vehicle but that is ok.

It appears they have change the reservation process. In the early days Ford didn't really know who would want what so you spec'd it out like other trucks. The back log has gotten so bad they are just putting you on the list, or so it appears.

When you get notified, you'll spec your truck, there will be an option for the trim level and what battery pack. I don't think they'll ever let the Pro version have the extended range pack in my opinion. That trim level with a long range battery is a great value in comparison with the Lariat and above trim levels. I love my Lariat but I had tried to get the XLT with the long range pack and couldn't.

Last thoughts on ordering. Before you sit down to order your truck, make certain you already have it planned out and have a checklist of features\packages etc. Before you commit, go down through your list and verify everything is accounted for. I received my truck without a couple of ordinary things that should have been on the truck at delivery.

Sorry, I guess my reply didn’t include enough reference information. I was asking how he specified a particular range on his Tesla CyberTruck Pre order, and comparing it to many Ford buyers who claimed to have specifically reserved a Pro trim level when the reservation did not include the trim level, just the model.

OK, When I ordered, literally 30 seconds after the unveiling ceremony, the various options were available. I think it was single motor, dual motor, tri-motor, with two battery pack sizes. In order to get the 500 mile battery you had to order the Tri-motor option. Then when Tesla had to do the redesign (rumors said there is going to be 4 motors), Tesla removed the options. Then Musk let everyone know they were redesigning it. (What is funny about this is it appears it is going to be even uglier than the prototype) and they still haven't put the options back on the website.

Clickbait. I was duped. Come back when you hit 50,000 miles, based on what you've done so far it shouldn't be more than 15 minutes from now.
I did think about waiting until next week but I thought next week is going to really busy and I'd probably forget about just like when I was approaching 30K and 40K miles. :)
