I just became the 2nd owner of a '24 Flash and everything has been great so far except I can't figure out where the settings are for turning off the alarm and sensors in the menu.

Everything I've read including the manual states that there should be something under 'vehicle' tab in the menu but it doesn't exist. Did they recently remove all the alarm settings on these trucks?

I take the ferry sometimes and need to turn off any tilt sensors.

I'm also trying to figure out if there's a way to leave the fans on or a 'dog mode' even if it's only for a short period like our BMW iX?

There is no way to turn off the tilt sensor. Leave the truck running (see below).

"Dog mode" posted often:

1) Leave truck running, set HVAC.
2) Turn off shutdown timer in menu.
3) Write on screen or hang note.
4) Get out, close door, use bottom 2 buttons 2 lock door.

Thanks for the reply.

How much of a hit on the battery would it take leaving it running for a 2 hour ferry ride?

If you turn off HVAC (turn off the fan), it has very little impact on the massive battery. Even leaving HVAC on has little impact unless it is REALLY cold, which I doubt if the ferry is running ;-). Even running the PPOB for 8 hours running 2 refrigerators, TV, internet and a freezer only took about 3% for me. I'd expect a 2 hour ferry ride to drop 1% or less.

Depends on your HVAC usage. AC, basically nothing. Heater, on a prewarmed vehicle, set to a comfortable temperature for a pet (mid 60s), and fan to Auto 1, would maybe be 1 or 2 % IMO.

I would have to check the build sheets, but I think the Flash in 24 doesn't have the security active alarm package like the mache etc. has. I haven't tried jacking up the truck yet to see if the alarm goes off without the key nearby though. I know I do not have the alarm sensor options in my settings anyway.

The 2024 Flash does not have the Advanced Security Pack option defined as:
  • SecuriLock® Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
  • Inclination / Intrusion Sensors.
It is standard on Lariat and Platinum. There is a whole thread where folks have installed it after the fact on lower trims (or on 2023 Lariat deletes).

P.S. Click here to update your Account Details to include your Vehicle is a 2024 Flash.

Thanks.

Just trying to wrap my head with what I need to do with the turning off the alarm sensors or which one's are factory installed.

I bought the truck from a Toyota dealership where the previous owner apparently needed more range and went back to an ICE truck. 7 months old, Looks like new, clean carfax and Ford records looked good so I took my chances.

I know there's some sort of motion alarm present because at the dealership the alarm went off with my wife sitting inside after me and sales guy walked away from the truck for a few seconds.

I have a dog so I need to be able to lock the doors to run inside the store for a few minutes especially some areas near where we live there are car break-ins. I see guys all the time walking around checking car handles, they couldn't care less if they get caught.

The dealership didn't have a lot of info other than their own inspection but I found the old window sticker with carfax and it shows 'perimeter alarm'.

I figured its an easy fix since there should be a option in the menu to temporarily turn off the motion sensors but there's nothing anywhere in the menu.

I hope this doesn't become a bigger issue for me, I would rather have no alarm and add a compustar like my old truck than something baked into the truck's system with no option to turn it off.

Hardly enough to notice. Day 4 of owning my Lightning, two of were working at a mountain top radio site. When it got dark we turned the truck on, turned on the high beam headlights, plugged in several other work lights, and tools including a 1500 watt heat gun. Two hours later I had a conference call and did it from inside the cab and turned on the heat since it was 44 degrees outside. After the call I left the heater on for another two hours.. With all that, the battery dropped 2 percent.

The Perimeter Alarm is a standard feature on most Fords. It's that alarm you are most familiar with in that it honks horn and flashes lights if a locked door is opened without unlocking using the fob or PAAK. It might include a shock sensor (easy for you to test). Maybe y'all locked the door on her, walked away with the fob, and then she opened it from the inside. That would set off the perimeter alarm. Or the previous owner added the aftermarket alarm system Ford sells (VSS) or a different one. Or the dealer added an alarm.

To get to the bottom of this read the thread I posted above. There is an owner who added this to his Flash. You can see the the motion sensor location in his post. See if you have those. You can also see if you have the blue dummy box or the real thing under your roof console which would indicate you have the inclination sensors.

To me the fact that it isn't in your Sync menu and is not listed on the Order Guide means you don't have it. Something else made the horn honk. I'm betting you just locked the door on her and she opened it.

I checked and it sounds like it was my kid opening the door handle. Which hopefully means no sensors tripping with the dog inside or alarms while on the ferry.

Yep. The system is not armed unless you lock the doors. The Perimeter alarm will then sense if the door is opened without being unlocked with the fob/keypad.

Like would happen by a thief with a Slim Jim or smashing your window and reaching inside to open the door or using a prybar. Or a kid locked in the car.
