Am I blind, or are there no lower front bed tie-downs?

Not my first truck; I've had Toyota, RAM and a gas F150 before... pretty sure *all* of them had a lower front tie-down. People who use trucks for truck things know these are important for safely holding down materials longer than the bed. I need to go pick up some flat 12' materials (boards and sheets) and I'm concerned that they could potentially bounce quite a bit, with the center of balance being literally on the tailgate. If there are none, does anyone know why? And also, is there any reason I couldn't add some? (I'm assuming the inside of the bedwall isn't full of batteries or something...) The way these tiedowns are halfway up the front of the wall makes them far less useful than close to the bottom of the bed.

You are blind (your words). My 2022 Lariat has both them and the Boxlinks.

My old F-150 had them down low like this:

But, yeah on Lightning, they are up high. (Driver's side shown)

You could get a bed bolt anchor.

Agreed. They are there, but should be lower to hold down plywood sheets.

lol @ RickLightning I said LOWER front. Not blind enough to miss those; I have them and the BoxLink ties; neither of those aren't useful for tying flat things down, just taller things sideways. I solved the bounce with a ratchet strap to my bed rack, but will probably add bed bolt anchors as suggested by bmwhitetx. Just wish I didn't have to drill holes in an $80k truck to make it have basic utility. Whoever moved those up the bedwall oughta be fired IMO. Thanks all.

May have led you astray there. I looked and couldn't find a commercial product for our generation truck. Everything was for 2016 and earlier. Remember you can search for generic F-150 since the beds are the same as the 14th gen. The only caveat is if our bed anchor bolts are different because of the battery pack??? @Pioneer74 might know.

Bed bolts should be the same.

Safe yourself from having to drill into your girl there and get a load extender.

It’ll take the bouncy out and give you better tie down for those loads.

I'd be nervous about removing bed bolts. I've heard they're one-time use, torque specific, etc. The 14th gen forum had this idea using the existing boxlink: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/diy-bed-divider-extender.15138/post-312651

I would make the L-bracket for each side, skip the cross-pieces and instead screw a cleat into the bottom of each L-bracket. You would install on the front box-links, not the ones he uses.

Not a bad idea... might try to make an adjustable version of this thing.

The way I ratchet things down, I wonder if wood construction is sufficient? I might try welding up something similar.
