Hi, I use Apple Car Play wirelessly and have a recurring problem. First, playing music or a podcast often takes a while to connect and start playing. Sometimes it connects and plays right away. Sometimes it connects, and the time counter shows it is playing, but no sound. It seems random and sometimes cutting the car off and then starting it again gets it to give me audio, be it slow to come on or nearly immediate. I don't have this issue in my ICE Honda that has Car Play (attached to make wireless via a dongle).

Unfortunately this is an ongoing issue. Happens randomly to me also.

The quickest way to resolve is to enable wireless on your phone this will disable CarPlay then reengage CarPlay manually by selecting CarPlay on your phone from the phone list menu.

Whenever this happens to me, I hold the radio power button and the right skip buttons at the same time and the center screen will reboot. For 12" versions, you can do this with one hand. For the 15" screen, use the right skip on the steering wheel and hold the radio power button with the other.

It's not an official fix, but it works for me every time.

Thanks. Will give it a try.

I have the same issue with any BlueTooth audio device in the Lightning, e.g., iPod, Zune, XM Radio add-on. Lots of drop-outs while playing, sometimes disconnects too, rebooting only fixes it for a short time.

I instead now use a 500GB SSD formatted in exfat with all my ripped CD's and downloaded music on it plugged in to the USB data port.

I found one of those old FM radio interface devices tuned to an unsued FM station works with the iPod and Zune, but they have audio out jacks which crApple did away with on their iPhones so that won't help you.

I too have had this problem intermittently. I would like to clarify and say that there are two CarPlay errors that I encounter: 1)Not successfully connecting to CarPlay and 2) my phone connects to CarPlay and the Synch4A shows the images but no sounds come out from anything Apple (meanwhile the radio works fine).

Iā€™d like to specifically address the ā€œNo Soundā€ issue. I have found two fixes for that error. The first is to stop, turn off the truck completely, open the driverā€™s side door. Wait about thirty seconds and re-start the vehicle. Usually this fixes it, but boy, is it a pain to do all that.

The second fix I have found is more convenient (IMHO) because you can keep on driving. First I turn off Wi-Fi on my iPhone, then I turn off Bluetooth. Wait a second or two and then I turn them on again. Usually the second time I connect with CarPlay Iā€™m getting projection AND sound.

Sadly, that the best that I have to offer. Iā€™m not sure why this error occurs, but it does happen often.

Ya happens to me. If I reboot sync (power & skip ahead button) I can get my audio back.

Agreed, same issue here. Hopefully a solution is found soon Ford!
