Attended F-150 Lightning Launch Event -- Writeup, Photos, Max Payload, GVWR

I also got payloads off some production vehicles...

F-150L PRO with Michelin 275 65 R18 tires - 2,170 pounds GVWR 8,250, therefore 6,080 gross vehicle weight.

F-150L Lariat (didn't get tire info) - 1,721 pounds GVWR 8,550, therefore 6,829 gross vehicle weight.

F-150L Platinum with General Grabber 275/50 R 22 tires - 1,516 pounds GVWR 8,550, therefore 7,034 gross vehicle weight.

Of course there are packages within Lariat, and those have different payloads.

Believe it or not, the driving experience is one of the things they specifically said we weren’t supposed to talk about for another week or so. That said, we can still give general impressions of the drive.

I think they want the first impressions of the major news outlets to be the first to truly describe it. From what I know, we got a chance to drive it before the press was given the opportunity.

However, I spoke to Sandy Munro and he’s driven it before us… but then again, he’s not the press… He’s engineering royalty.

Wow 2170 pounds payload with only 8250 GVWR on the Pro makes me hopeful for the XLT. I wonder what physical differences there are to get a higher GVWR on other trims?

I'm not as photogenic as some of the "OMG people". Having ridden in a Lightning last summer on a Drive event (parking lot), and owning a Mach-E, the experience for me was basically "yes, that's what it does". Others had never ridden in one, although they might now own a Tesla. Others still owned nothing comparable.

This video is the best view of the internals I have seen so far, and to have Sandy there explaining it all was amazing.
