Right. My point is don't get your hope up for the federal $12,500, which according to very recent news this morning is definitely dead in the water.

As currently written, yes.

Either way, I could use $7500 MA and $7500 Federal for a total of $15k of the price. That along with a 10k trade in, a nice $25k down payment.

I was referencing the federal incentive. Not state. Massachusetts is $7500. Federal is $7500 and possibly $12500 if the BBB passes.
And it looks like BBB is dead with Manchin’s declaration of no support.

Based on the attached screenshot from the leaked buyers guide, the GVWR of the extended range XLT is indicated as "up to 8550". What the hell is that? I have $7500 of state incentives tied to that 50lbs. How do I decide my options not knowing the actual GVWR?

I'd guess that's with the max tow package.

Platinum is 8550 and has almost every option. So my guess is that you need every option to have a chance, though some options that exist on Lariat don't exist on XLT so you probably need to move up trims.

I'm not sure that's true. Look at the payload differences. The XLT and Lariat is 2000lbs. The platinum is 1500lbs. GVWR is determined by curb weight + payload.

My understanding of GVWR is it's just curb weight + payload. I guess if you increase the curb weight with the tow package, then maybe the GVWR goes up. I have a feeling the truck suspension can only carry 8550lbs total. The payload will decrease or increase across trims to maintain that number. Just a guess.

Manufacturers have been known to leave some room in the GVWR, and maintain the payload rating as the increase some weight. That's about the only thing thst makes sense to me with the "up to" statement.

I imagine the moon roof option adds weight, chair differences, max tow package adds additional weight, tonneau cover, spray in bed liner, running boards, power-onboard upgrade, etc. all add weight that could reduce the max payload rating down from the 2000.

Joining this thread to communicate with any Mass forum members who may be eligible for the credit based on the interpretation that a F150 Lightning with an ER battery pack and All Season tires should qualify for the Massachusetts Mor-EV-Trucks credit. https://mor-ev.org/mor-ev-trucks

It's clear configurations with the SR battery would not qualify and some folks might be in luck but might need to fight for the credit if a clerk improperly classifies your truck as not eligible.

Make sure to collect the needed documents, this graphic from the email I got from them when I signed up for more information, it has an incorrect lower weight limit (8,001 - 14,000)
Ford F-150 Lightning Ford F150 Lighting - GVWR (Weight + Payload) 1652389208716

Correct value for class 2b trucks is (8,501 - 10,000)
Ford F-150 Lightning Ford F150 Lighting - GVWR (Weight + Payload) 1652389101932

If you're denied the credit, consider appealing the decision if you think you are qualified.

The 8500 pound number is an EPA cutoff for light-duty trucks. Trucks below 8500 pounds counts towards the CAFE fleet fuel economy numbers. It's in Ford's benefit to have the Lightning factor into the CAFE light duty category from a regulatory perspective.

The Hummer has a curb weight of 9000 pounds but would be too expensive to qualify for the MA rebate....
Yeah it sounds like for commercial vehicles.

CO's state tax credit for EVs also goes up by a cool grand if 8500+ GVWR. Rivian came in at just over 8500 so it's not implausible...

/me is hoping that it'll similarly be 8520 lb or the like.
I was looking at incoming inventory around Central Mass and just noticed on buch of trucks ordered by Quirk Ford that the sticker has: 8250# GVWR PACKAGE and I'm assuming it's to ensure that it qualifies.
