Does anyone else feel betrayed by the government (specifically the Donald Trump administration)? The main reason I bought the EV was because we were given a deadline that a lot of vehicles will be changing over to electric and that more and more EV Chargers will be installed throughout the US. Now this administration has taken over and decimated the program that was suppose to fund the installation of chargers. I just feel like a complete dumbass for buying this truck knowing that everything will remain limited on travel unless you pass by a progressive city with chargers.

I bought my truck two years ago based on the then current availability of charging and never regretted it then and still donā€™t regret it now.

The charging infrastructure will continue to be built out. The private sector will build even if at a slower pace.

Nope Im aware that every 2 year the pendulum swings in some manner in congress and every 4 years the presidential pendulum may swing. Since EV push is a politically divisive issue Im aware based on the pendulum swings that would have an effect.

Politics and Gov't influenced charger build out had no effect on my purchasing decision.

Nope not at all, the gov should not subside a product. Let the market decide.

Iā€™d never spend 5 figures in hopes that some future promise might come to fruition.
I bought the truck knowing how it fits my use case.

Nope. We have a Mach E and Lightning. Charge at home. Rare road trips.

Model T production from 1908-1927 began with a non-existent road system, basically cart paths between farms w/crap for urban ā€œroadsā€. By the time ā€œTā€ production ended in ā€˜27, the basic local-state road system had been laid down in our county. Many small fueling stops w/roadhouses at stores, post offices, etc. It would take 30 years and a world war to create the Interstate system. We are at the beginning of a multi-decade process of change.

I do not feel betrayed by this. My purchase was based on product features and overall long term cost. I think the EV incentive is a good plan but as not a deciding factor for me. Plus, our adapter for the wifeā€™s Mach-e just showed up today. Thanks Ford.

This makes an EXCELLENT point about infrastructure and technology adoption.

Exactly this. I bought my SR XLT Lightning last year knowing full well that I needed to be satisfied with the charging infrastructure AS IT IS. Do I hope (as we all do) that the infrastructure improves over the next few years so that road trips are less stressful? Of course. However, even if it does not (and I think that companies will continue to add charging stations - EA has already committed to doing so, and Tesla will continue to add Superchargers), I can road trip right now, as I could 12 months ago when I bought the truck. I have no faith in EVGo or Blink or Chargepoint to do much, and hopefully I am wrong about that. The NEVI funds that may or may not be clawed back by the current administration would be good for all EV drivers, but won't likely affect my use case very substantially.

But giving our tax money to the fossil fuel industry is ā€A Okayā€, because a portion of that give away goes to greedy politicians! World wide itā€™s in the trillions.

Much of what's happened since January 20th is theater and doesn't change anything, like the "ending" of the non-existent "EV mandate", for instance. While I've no doubt there are actual changes ahead of us that won't be positive, an executive order doesn't override acts of congress. All of this theater is specifically intended to be red meat for a low information base. For now, it can mostly be ignored. Just be happy that there is now, finally, no EV mandate and that we can all buy ICE cars once again šŸ˜‰

Nope not at all. Iā€™ve got over 13k on my lightning in just over 6 months. Thatā€™s multiple cross country trips and several regional road trips. Iā€™ve not had any issue finding chargers. In fact I usually find multiple chargers so I choose based on price and availability. I mostly use SC as they are everywhere and for the most part rock solid. I love my truck and also believe in the free market. Chargers will keep popping up as there is money to be made. Iā€™m not losing a minute of sleep personally.

No, it is what it is. Frankly being a different ā€œengineā€ choice into politics is the dumbest thing ever. There should have never been a mandate, just a transition. Like when Carb engines phased out.

I'm sorry you were gullible and bought a $80,000 truck because a bunch of teenaged political activists said you should.
