I notice that a stretch of interstate I drive BlueCruise goes on/off over short spots. So I look up the charted map and see this…..
the map reflects where it goes in/out of Hands Free mode. Short spots all along this interstate, Why is it like this?

Do you have BC 1.4?

It could be other reasons of course but it looks like there are curves in the road. Same thing where I live but with BC 1.4 it now stays engaged during those gaps and in some cases even slows down the truck to navigate the curve.

I have noticed this on my portion of the drive. Certain curves arent mapped on the BC map. Regardless, my BC still stays engaged in those spots.

I have the lane change and lane reposition toggles, so I guess I have BC 1.4. Still not sure how to determine that with certainty.

But, those little mapping gaps just don’t make sense to me.
Seems like the system has room for improvement.

There's a spot on a regular drive where BC drops out for a short distance. It's annoying, but consistent. Oddly, the "dead spot" is a little longer in one direction than the other.

2024's came with BC 1.2 and have not gotten the 1.4 OTA. BC 1.2 has lane change assist but not the increased capability.
  • BlueCruise 1.2 – Adds new features including In-Lane Repositioning (which can give you more space by subtly shifting away from vehicles in adjacent lanes) and Lane Change Assist (tapping your turn signal to initiate a hands-free lane change).

  • BlueCruise 1.3 – Helps you stay engaged longer in hands-free mode by improving performance, with greater ability to navigate narrow lanes and curves.

  • BlueCruise 1.4 – Delivers greater in-lane stability, while automatically and smoothly adjusting the vehicle’s speed in even more curves, allowing for more hands-free time and a more continuous drive.

A couple of questions from a newbie:
1. How do you find out what BC version you have?
2. How do you get the newer versions...do they come out with software updates? I just got an update, but the notes for it didn't contain any information...just that the update "enhanced the software experience."
3. In a related note, there are some spots on 95 here in Maine where BC acts up. I'm not sure what happens. There are two spots where they put in EZPass lanes...you are not supposed to slow down in those, but somehow my sensors pick up the 25 MPH signs from the other lanes (way to the right with Jersey Wall barriers), and slam on the brakes. I have taken to cutting BC when I approach these, but it's only a couple of them where this happens. Also, there are spots on the open road where it will suddenly think that the speed limit has been reduced (from 70 to 35 or 45). It's dangerous, especially if there is traffic behind me. Anyone else having this problem?

1. All 2024's have BC 1.2. (link)
2. Ford will give it to you when they are ready. Currently some 2022's and 2023's have received it in limited testing.
3. Yes, can be dangerous. Turn off Speed Sign Recognition in the Adaptive Cruise settings.

I did not know that was an option. Thanks!

Another reason I have seen for it cutting out is toll cameras. Even if there are no booths or any type of obstructions, it seems to cut out for them.

Yep, this has been my experience here in NC. Anytime I approach one of the toll readers, BC will disable and then re-enable shortly after clearing the reader.

This is so annoying on the Mass Pike.
