Bluecruise Works…For Now

First a word of thanks to the community. Y’all provided everything I needed to know before buying my used 23 Lariat Lightning a couple days ago. Sales guys were nice, but pretty much knew nothing lol.

My rig came with the 511a package with three years of Bluecruise. It’s my understanding that this is NOT transferable to me as the new owner. However, BC is still working after I took ownership a few days ago.

Has anyone had the same experience? Anyone know the specific events that would make it stop working?

What does it show for the expiration date on Fordpass, Vehicle tab, connected services, Blue Cruise? IIRC it's 3 years from the VIN being placed into first service. Do you see an option for $0.00 one year extension ?

No fordpass account yet. I’m scared if I bind the Vin to a new account that it will stop working. If the previous owner never set up fordpass, I might be ok, but I’m hesitant to try it in case doing so will flag the vehicle as a different owner and turn off bc.

Here is why I think it will go smoothly, when I got my Lightning back in the summer of 2022, I soon had issues with my Fordpass / Ford.com profile due to using a third party web site that I allowed to log into my ford account to monitor my trucks charging activity an SOC.

This was a violation of Ford's TOS, we can only log in via Fordpass and regular internet browsers, but NEVER via a third party system.

Eventually after a week or so I got locked out, it took them over a week to resolve my account security lock-out, while i was waiting I created a new ford.com account with an alternate email address, I was able to create a new authorize access to my truck, that profile continued to display the default complementary subscriptions.

Once my primary account was unlocked, I was able to log into my old profile and then once again, I reset everything on the truck and resumed my association with my old profile, no compromise occurred with the subscriptions.

I think your fear is understandable but from my experiences all will be fine,

• Create a Ford.com account if you don't have one yet.
• Have key FOB in hand
• Do a complete vehicle reset including all authorized drivers, ie. former owner.
• Add the Fordpass app to your phone begin the binding process.
• Create a PAAK profile, adjust door PIN and create an emergency start PIN

I'm pretty confident that the original inclusive subscription will be loaded to your new owner account, from there, add your connected services payment method for Blue Oval Charging, at this point you might see an option to extend the Blue cruise feature for an additional year.

I bought a nice 11k mile used 2022 ER Lariat in April 2024 in Kansas City MO & drove it back to DFW. I used BC from the get-go and it's worked ever since. I also got a free 30 day Sirius XM radio subscription when I registered the truck with FordPass. Last week I "renewed" the BC subscription for free as several folks have done. Don't think you'll have any issues with it.

This doesnt work like a Tesla, nor does Ford have the technology to tie something to a specific owner. Youll be okay.

Worked exactly as you guys said it would. Also followed the steps laid out by TaxmanHog verbatim and ended up with the free one year extension of bluecruise as well. Appreciate everyone taking the time to respond.

Next I will obsess over upgrading from 1.0 to 1.4. It’s my understanding that you have to just wait until your vin is randomly selected. Seems bizarre to me, but I guess we’ll see what happens.
