Bought a Lectron off Amazon - 2 days later got this safety notice

I bought mine directly from Lectron. Had to do some modifications to get it to release properly(ground down the release latch) and only used it once since I got the Ford adapter shortly afterwards. I would suspect that if mine was subject to recall I would've heard something from Lectron, but who knows for sure.

Interested to see how this ends up. They have removed the Vortex from Amazon, nowhere to be found.

Looks like none of these adapters is without issues including the Ford one. They are probably all made in a handful of factories in Asia.

I clarified this with their CS team as soon as I got the email. Apparently, this recall is for the May 2024 recall that affected a small number of units bought from their website. This does not, in any way, affect those bought from Amazon. So if you got your Vortex from Amazon, you're all good!

I bought one over the summer for emergencies while waiting for my Tesla adapter, but returned it because I didn’t need it on my travels. Now I have my Tesla adapter and in my limited use has worked great.

But I also just got the recall notice from Amazon.

Same issue with the serial numbers. Erring on the side of caution, returning the unit.

I think this is wise. I received a reply from Lectron stating that this one is fine, buuuut I just went to a Tesla supercharger to check it out, and I had to press the pin in to get the NACS plug into the adapter, and I was able to pull the plug out of the adapter without pressing the pin. That was why it was recalled in the first place. I'm going to return to Amazon.

I don't trust that mine is legit (either a [very good] knockoff, or it's manufactured before the recall).

My A2Z one is on the way.

It's not a must--it will charge. But the fact that it could be pulled out (someone trip over it?) while it's DC fast charging is something I've been led to believe is a very bad thing. Voltage is typically around 400-500 volts, with amperage ranging from 150-250 amps, and if you have arc flash during an unintentional disconnect, you are having a bad day. I don't know how likely this is-- if someone could chime in with that?

They seem to all be the exact same adapter but with a different brand label on them. I've ordered 2 different brands now, and they are identical. I asked both about the lack of the Tesla side lock, and they gave me a line of horse crap about how they engineered the fitment to be so exact that the fit was perfect and no lock is needed, and that in testing female EV owners had trouble with the lock LOL! One seller even gave me a lifetime warranty which means zip as they will disappear after 6 months to a year.
