I have had my XLT since last March. Over the past few weeks have noticed that when it is wet out, when coming to a near complete stop, like at a stop sign, the brakes are loud like a grind. On thing I did do recently was accidentally overfill my wind shield wiper fluid not realizing it was not a full size reservoir and it definitley overflowed down below.

Any thoughts?

Well I can safely and confidently confirm that the washer fluid is not in any way connected to the brakes...

Is it really a grinding sound? Or are you hearing the ABS operating pulsing the brakes?

Mentioned washer fluid because when i overfilled it i leaked down on everything below. I know when i get anything on my bike brakes they get noisy until worked off.

Mine does the same. For me it's because I don't stop hard enough to engage the mechanical brakes, as a result they stay wet. So when you reach the end and the computer applies the mechanical brakes to come to a compete stop they are not dry.

If you hit the brakes firmly while still moving at a good speed they will dry off

Makes total sense. Though I’ve never experienced with my Bolt. I will test by braking slow and experiencing the issue then brake hard and try again.

In a safe area: get up to a reasonable speed, put the truck in neutral, and stop using the brakes. Do this a couple of times. Regenerative braking is not used while in neutral, so this will clear the crud built up in your discs.

It's a common problem with lots of EVs.

When I back my MME out of the garage and apply the brakes, it makes sounds like the pads are worn out and I'm grinding the rotors, though I know none of this is true. I attribute this to surface rust buildup due to the infrequent use of the actual brakes. I will definitely use the Neutral braking suggestion and see if that makes a difference. That said, at 60K miles the pads are like new. I haven't experienced this problem with my Lightning.

I noticed the same on my 2023 XLT this month with the snow and the slush and cold rain.

FWIW I agree with member Firn's diagnosis. If the brake rotors are made of iron as is very likely because of cast iron's good disc braking properties, that, combined with our truck's regenerative braking would definitely be the cause, i.e. dirt (rust) present on the rotors because of the wetness interacting with the heating & cooling cycles on the discs, when mechanical braking begins toward the end of the braking cycle. Assuming all this is true, this doesn't hurt anything.
