Just an FYI on what they did with my buy back truck. Truck was turned in to California Dealership in November of 2024 then in February of 2025 appeared at auction in St Lois Missouri. The truck is now at the Local Ford Dealership along with some other Buy Backs and Lemon Trucks in El Paso Illinois. The listed price is about $42K. I wish the next guy luck with the truck! It was an early production truck back in 2022 and had two bad battery modules, vin # was 2200. I did buy another F 150 Lightning as a replacement and we will see what happens over the next 8 years.

While looking for my used Lightning (via Cars.com), I constantly avoided these dealers who seem to have a plethora of buyback/lemons. They are definitely targeting those auctions for these models but I hope they also have great EV techs to valuate/repair them before putting up for sale.

Sometimes, the filter for "clean title" still lets these buybacks through. Also, carfax would always show those valid buybacks/lemon, which was helpful to avoid...but I still avoided these dealers altogether.

OF NOTE: Nothing against these dealers personally, I just did not want to travel out-of-state to purchase and have issues that were "hopefully" fixed by Ford. In fact, I hope some of y'all have had great experiences with said dealers.

I happen to live 10 miles from the Huntley ford dealership and need to take my Flash in because PAAK no longer works also can’t enter code to drive. Yes we spent the entire day yesterday trying to get our 3 IPhones to work.

I have a Flash also. Did Phone as a key / PAAK ever work on the Flash?
I do use the auto open and auto lock feature , but that’s using the key fob in my pocket, not a phone.

I purchased a buyback truck a few months ago from one of the dealers mentioned above. The salesman, manager and finance guy were very upfront about the branded title and service history on the vehicle. They provided a Carfax and full RAV report, which I verified with a third party VIN service.

The original MSRP on my Lariat was $90k and it had just over 7,000 miles when it was turned in. It went back to the Michigan plant where it spent 6 months before it was reconditioned and sold at auction. I paid $39k OTD and they threw in a mobile charger and extra key fob.

I’ve been through 2 buybacks(the other way) on an Explorer and a Bronco, so I knew what I was getting myself into. Both times, Ford went out of their way to make me whole. I’ve put 3000 miles on the Lightning with no issues. So far, it’s the best truck I have ever driven. Hopefully it stays that way…but I’m keeping my old FX4 in reserve in case the Lightning needs warranty work.

PAAK is not available on Flash. Only Lariat and Platinum.

I was offered the Ford Extended Warranty Program at the time of purchase.

One thing to be careful of....some auto insurance companies will not cover buyback vehicles. Check the VIN with your agent prior to purchase.

I bought a buyback vehicle from Huntley about a month ago, and so far, I've had no issues. I drove about three hours to get there, and the salesman was your stereotypical sleazy car salesman. They had a 2022 Lariat ER with 17k miles listed for $39k. I told him I wanted to pay in cash, and he handed me the first sheet with all their fees; the total came to $55k. I said there was no way I was paying $16k over the online price. We negotiated, and I ended up paying $45k after taxes and fees.

I’m not really sure if I would buy another vehicle from Huntley again. Not because the one I got was bad or had any issues, but they are a "volume" dealer and seem focused on making a quick buck, unfortunately.

As for the truck, I've had no issues with it, and it’s been the best car I've ever owned. I'm hoping to get at least BC 1.2 soon since my brother has a Mach-E, and I love the lane change feature. If nothing else, I'll probably get all the stuff for FDRS soon and do the updates myself, as I'm a software engineer and feel pretty comfortable making those kinds of changes to my cars (I upgraded my wife's 2013 Escape to SYNC 3 so she could have CarPlay, and that went without a hitch).

I purchased an 11k used ER Lariat in Kansas City MO last April, which was a Ford buyback, but doesn't have a branded title as I understand it. It was (and still is) in pristine and best I can tell, the previous owner just wasn't happy with the vehicle. Only work done on it was to replace the driver's seat fabric that was a problem with some of the early builds. It is the Iced Blue color that I wanted for the 2023 ER Lariat from the original registration lottery purchased in January 2024. I needed a truck for a second property we have & it fit the bill.
