Hello All,

Synopsis: 2023 Lariat bought 11/23, been to shop 15 times for various issues. Had shifter replaced 3 times and now they say it needs another one that isn't available. I applied for buyback via online chat several months ago and checked in periodically every few weeks with the case number and they would say "its in review" but finally someone else said the case was never processed so they opened another one with another case number. Then I received a phone call saying it was denied and I would get an email stating why. I live in Florida and this truck meets the lemon law requirements by 1. been in the shop for a combined 45 days 2. Been to shop for the same issue 3 times and unable to rectify. I never got the email as to why I was denied and I checked again to no avail. That was before the 3rd shifter failure. Can someone please tell me how they were successful in the process?? When I call and talk to someone, they don't even know what a Lightning is and it seems like its the first time they have ever taken a phone call. Terrible customer service. I am a Ford guy for 50 years and own many and have owned dozens. That doesn't seem to matter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love the Lightning when its functioning properly and would like to give it another try but I definitely got a LEMON!!

Sorry about the troubles, yeah I bet there's one small faulty component that's driving all the problems but that shouldn't be your problem. You're in FL and when I've driven there I couldn't swing a dead cat without seeing a lawyer billboard, and unfortunately you're probably going to need one to avoid such a runaround. Good luck!

When I did it I called Customer relations at +1-800-392-3673 and told them I had a Lightning and wanted to talk to the BEV team. From there it took a few months of back and forth before it was approved.

I'm located in California though and my truck had three battery module failures over the course of a year leaving it in the shop for about 50 days in total.

Not much more info I can give as mine went fairly smoothly. If that fails then I agree with jeff_h, Lawyer time.

My November 2023 build Lariat SR is also a Lemon under Ohio Law. By ghosting me, FMC forced me to sue them.
So, I hired the law firm of Dewey, Screwum, and Howe. They were excited to take the case.
You might want to do the same.

FYI Regarding California buy backs: As I surrendered my 23 F150 L SR (build group 10/30/22 bad battery modules mult times) to the dealership I spoke to the owner of the very large dealership, he advised me in his estimate somewhere north 70% nationwide all buy backs are from California. I don't know about his numbers but he is in the know, and this state is ruled with litigators and the trial lawyers association that favors billable hours. You can draw your own conclusions.

The lemon law process is totally different than a Ford buy-back. Just because you meet lemon law criteria doesn’t mean Ford will simply buy it back.

Your statement is technically true, however when I was dealing with a different Ford vehicle in this process, the buyback was dependent on the state's lemon law. I had to meet my state law before the buyback was approved.

For @Kiteboarderken , I also recommend contacting the BEV team and start your case with them. Follow up regularly if you don't hear anything. If no movement, a lawyer is probably the best advice.

Good luck!

Right, I guess a better way to look at it is that once you prove your car meets the conditions of your state’s lemon law, it forces a buyback. I have heard of buybacks happening outside of invoking the provisions of a lemon law.
