Not sure if this is a truck issue or iOS issue. When connected, the sound comes thru very tinny just thru the speakers up by the window. Zero bass. After 5 minutes or so it usually connects where is it fully coming thru the sound system. This is for any audio from the phone thru Carplay. Podcast, Music, etc... Been going on about 3 weeks. My first inclination is that it is an issue with the 18.1 developer beta. Anyone else have this issue?

Funny you mention this. I don’t run iOS beta, but I am running 18. I have a fully customized stereo I installed in the car. I tune with a DSP. I did the same thing with my Mach-E. Lately, I will spend an hour or so as I am finalizing the DSP of the car, and I am amazed at the results. Then the next day when I get in the car, I feel like “what the heck happened to the sound? Did I tune that badly? Where is the bass?”. It happened to me this morning. For about 10 minutes I was driving completely frustrated because I didn’t understand how my tune last night could’ve been so off. Eventually, it starts to sound normal. Man, this is frustrating!

Since 18, I also have issues with no sound through CarPlay until I reboot the phone. In addition I am getting Apple Music sound drop-outs in the car, and on MiniPod speakers.

I have had multiple issues on beta with carplay. They all get resolved by clicking into airplane mode and then out.

My other fun car is a 2024 Corvette and I was driving that on Friday and I had a hard time getting CarPlay to connect. When it finally connected I had it tuned to iHeart radio, and the sound was just like you described it very weak and raspy sounding like only my front speakers.

I just experienced this yesterday and had no idea what was going on. It was exactly as you mentioned, all the bass went out of the sound. I had just updated to 18.1 beta earlier in the day.

Well I guess at least now I don’t feel so alone, but it remains a mystery. If anyone has any insight to the cause, toss it out. I’m dumbfounded. It seems to come back to the full speaker set after 5 minutes or so of connectivity for me…. Just weird.

Any changes with iOS 18.1 Beta 6 released yesterday?

UPDATE: The iOS 18.1 Beta 6 seems to have resolved it for me. I've only been in the truck for 3 short rides since the update, but I have not noticed the effect again. I'll report back if that does not continue to be the case.

I’m on the beta as well. No problem like you reported. Only one is the ongoing no sound unless I disconnect and reconnect CarPlay.

PAAK seems way worse for me on 18.1.
