CAUTION! Android Auto EV Charging while in Tow Mode

So I tested the Android auto Google maps with the update. Good news is it works for regular driving with EV charging routing no problem.

Downside is it does not recognize tow mode. Hence the Google maps still thinks your efficiency is the same as driving without the trailer. If you used this while towing you would run out of electrons.

You can still use maps but forget about relying on it for trip planning while towing for EV charging as it doesn't adjust down your efficiency when you connect the trailer. I'm an experienced EV owner so it doesn't impact me but still something to be weary of. Hope Ford and Google can figure this out. Seems simple enough.

I'll add that I searched all over the web for any guidance from Ford or Google on how to enable the tow profile while using Android auto and Google maps. Nothing....

I'm surprised Ford doesn't at least comment on this as many use Google maps and if you're towing while relying on Google maps new EV route planning feature you'll be on the side of the road out of juice.

Here's all I could find on the features from Ford and Google. No mention of Tow Mode enabled.

I think the best chance of getting an adjustment will come from feedback submissions to Ford via your sync screen and then developer feedback to Google Maps via the android play store, maybe they will include a approximate factor of half the MPK when the vehicle is reporting tow mode, then refine the value as real MPK's are being reported by the vehicle.

I agree. I've already submitted the issue to Google via the Google maps issue reporting tool. Will do the same with Ford. Just wanted to see if I'm alone in this and also warn folks that aren't as keen to watch their consumption vs. Trusting the map guidance.

I think there's only a few of us watching issues like this, I know I would never get 300 miles while pulling my 7x14 V-nose with race bike and pit gear loaded.

Hope Ford and Google can figure this out. Seems simple enough.

Seems ambitious considering there is still no 'Precondition' button for those of us in cold climates
