I’ve got a 2023 Lightning Lariat with all stock wheels, tires, suspension. In the past week or two, I’ve started to notice a single click or “popping” sound when turning the wheel while driving. I could be mistaken, but it seems like I hear it more when turning left. As far as I can tell, it only happens while in motion. Has anyone else had this issue or know what it might be?

My first thought was a CV joint, but those tend to be multiple clicks when turning. Like a “click click click click” until the wheels are turned back to center. This is a single click and it’s very faint. I’m going to try to take it in to the dealership, but I was just hoping to get some info before doing so.

There have been reports of similar issues. Do a search for “half shaft” and you should find them.

I appreciate the response! Unfortunately, all those threads seem to be referring to a clicking that happens when engaging or disengaging the regeneration in one pedal mode. I only hear it when turning and I haven’t noticed it when engaging or disengaging the regen. I’ll keep digging through those threads though, thanks!

Stupid question, but I experienced something like this recently as well and it turned out to be an item I forgot was in the frunk. You don't have anything in the frunk, do you?

That’s a very good point. I keep my mobile charger in its bag under the “subfloor” of the frunk. I don’t think that would move around enough to cause the sound, but I might as well make sure. I’ll take it out for a few days and see if I still notice the sound. If not, I’ll put it back and secure it a little better to prevent any movement.

I went through this exact issue a few months ago and couldn't it out for the life of me until I opened the frunk and realized something was rolling around in there

Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

Does your Lariat came with the storage box under the rear seats? Use that area to store your mobile charger. I use that area for all my emergency gear and mobile charger.

I found this site searching this exact problem. When i saw Basis' response about the frunk, I went to check if that was the issue.

It wasn't that I left anything in the frunk, but the lid over the ice box had enough play that it was rocking back and forth when I turned and made a knocking sound i could hear in the cabin.

I flipped the pull tab down so it was under the lid (Not ideal) and that slowed it down enough that I don't hear the noise.
