Dashboard screen is black.

Has anybody ran into an issue with dashboard screen not coming on or being totally black? I'm not sure if it just went "out" or i hit something to make it dim to where i cant see it. No speedometer , warnings , messages, anything just completely black. I can drive the truck and the main center screen is on ..... radio ect. This is a 23 lariat ext battery with 500 miles on the clock. Mobile mechanic from ford was out yesterday doing an update and recall notice on upper ball joints yesterday. Drove to the store today and then bamn no dash...... any ideas?

This seems to be a common thing. Happened to me, came back in an hour or two and has not happened since. Good luck.

Try using that search function (spy glass) in the upper right side of your screen.

Thanks for the reply's and direction. The screen did eventually come back on after a few hours.... while i was on the phone with ford service. they mentioned there was a button on or around the steering wheel that could black out the screen????? i pushed every button on and around that wheel nothing happened. Soooooo take that for what its worth. one thing i did find interesting in one of the post was the mentioning that they had installed a dash cam when the screen went out. I to had just installed the dash cam a few hours before as well, coincidence ? will keep a eye out on this to see what happens.

I'm not aware of a button like that, and just searched the manual for ('blank','black','dim','dimming','dark') and didn't get any relevant hits... maybe it's an "undocumented feature" who knows.

Anyway, that same thing happened to me one day when the truck had about 25k miles, out of the blue I started driving and noticed pretty quickly that the dash display was black (center console was fine)... I drove the 20 miles home wondering about what a pain it was gonna be to take it to the dealer and leave it with them for X days or weeks, but thankfully after being parked in the garage for a couple hours everything was normal on the next trip and has been since. I think I saw a post here or on reddit about it possibly being related to a pending or in-progress software update, no idea if that's true or not?

But I'm glad yours started working again too!
