Nada (https://www.nada.org/regulatory-compliance/irs-reopen-time-sale-reporting-2024-transactions) seems to only point to 2024 transactions but just wanted to point out that at least for my case, 2025 purchases can be submitted late as well.

Purchased: 3/18/2025
Form completed and accepted: 3/28/25

Now to wait an entire year to see if it's still fubar.

See this - the IRS reopened the reporting portal for those dealers who missed the deadlines.

The option to report sales retroactively was opened for testing as of Tuesday, March 25, and will officially be rolled out today, the group said. "It is unclear how long the functionality will remain open but, according to the IRS, dealers can begin using the portal now," NADA informed dealers.

You can log into your IRS ONLINE account to see that has posted, and confirm that you'll be fine next winter/spring filing season.

Alas, I missed that someone already posted the story.
News travels fast, and I admit, I haven't kept up with the postings.

It is good news that the IRS is providing a remedy for folks in that situation.
They could easily have said 'tough luck.'
Considering the way the new guys in town are so anti EV incentives now, and how they have attempted to cancel other things without legal basis, it was kind of a crap shoot in my mind what the IRS would do about it.

All that lobbying by the NADA paid off for EV owners and sellers this time.

IRS website states to get 2 docs from dealership:
1. point-of-sale report
2. IRS ECO confirmation

My dealership didn't provide me with either. I am following it up with them right now. Correct me if I am wrong, I assume the IRS ECO confirmation is the generated Form 15400?

How does the point-of-sale report look? Is it an official form or just something the dealership creates to log the sale? Wouldn't the standard long sales contract form serve that purpose?

It shows it has been submitted and accepted by IRS.

The second page of 15400 has all the details like Purchase, Buyer and Vehicle information.

Anyone have a feel for how long the IRS is taking for Round 2 on the 2024's that started on 3/26/25? My dealer said they submitted on Wed. (3/26) and that it could take 48 hours, but as of today hadn't received a confirmation back.

I believe Form 15400 is immediately generated when the sale is reported. It was for mine last year. As far as how long it take to propagate through the IRS system so they will accept your tax return, I don't know. I suspect not long.

7 days at worst, but some moderinzed processing sub-systems will be instant or within 48 hours.

I'd suggest waiting seven days to resubmit the e filed tax return, but you could try daily with the commercial service as they will report back quickly if submission is failing still.

My mailed in paperwork has officially been received, it’s been at this stage for about a week now. I’ve picked up a second job on the weekends for the time being to save up and offset it in the event that it gets rejected for any reason. I’ve been MIA and just catching up on responses this morning. Still unsure as to whether Kendall Ford (New Dealership identity) would even be able to submit a 15400 under the alias of Vancouver Ford (Dealership purchased vehicle from prior to buyout) paperwork wouldn’t even match and I’m sure the IRS would be quicker to reject that than my mailed in evidence of purchase from October.

Happy to report that the IRS accepted our corporate returns this morning with the EV credit. Dealer entered the info last Wed. for my 2024. - Pleasantly surprised by this all coming together!
