I tried a newer windows laptop and it worked. The APIM is now updated to the latest and greatest. Seems like the newer laptop maybe has a better wifi card that was more stable for the connection.
Ford was going fast and furious with the updates for the Early adopters towards BC so I bought a month sub for FDRS hoping they would continue. Seems they have halted. I hope they get it flowing again towards that 5 to 7 updates needed for BC within about 29 days
I did notice that Apple car play on this APIM update did not get rid of the black boarder.

I am going to hold on the mongoose setup until you get that doc @Bob_Mac so I don't screw it up. I appreciate your help and all the work you do help. Of course thank you also to @JEB, @iceman77, @Jesse-Infotainment for your help and working this stuff out.

kick off? Ive been stuck with the USB in for over a month now with nothing. Any suggestions? Am I forever trapped until Ford releases a fix?

You won’t screw it up. It’s pretty straightforward. You just have to remember to run both applications, not just the driver installation. Once you’ve done it, you’ll get offered highly complex procedures—like buttons that say “fix me.”

Not exactly. The VCM 3 uses different protocols (J1708 and J1939) and works on IDS. The Mastertech II, like the Mongoose and the Nano, is another J2534 device. Its principal advantage is that you can use it on multiple brands. However, if you’re just going to use it for Fords, its advantage over a less expensive device is unclear, other than it’s a Bosch and is pretty much guaranteed to work well.

Got my power running boards fixed! I ran the PMI on the DSM as Not Original Module and all went well with no effect, boards still not moving. I then ran another test on the DSM module which this time moved the running boards. After this, all was fine. Thanks to everyone for all your help! 5 more hours on my 2 day (actually 3 day 6 hours) license, Still have the IPC DTC U2100 which has resisted several tests and a PMI both as new and original module. May give it one more shot tonight.

It was cheaper and more available than the vcm3. I'm excited to un-frell my poor truck. I think I need to redo the programming on my ACM.

Well, you’ve done just about everything I can think of. Is this an active DTC or stored? Maybe try clearing the DTC with FORScan, drive your truck around and see if it comes back.
