I was reading on Facebool that the 2021 went to a two leaf spring config, with a thicker primary spring. However some mentioned that max tow had three springs. Can anyone confirm on both configs?

I tried to find a source but the max tow options use a conventional steel 3 leaf design while the non-max tow use a new composite 2 leaf design.

I have been trying to match up white door stickers (axle ratings) with the maxtow and regular tow packages to determine what gets you the upgraded rear axle.

4800# is HDPP package only. The 4150# rear axle is all powerboosts (reg or max tow it seems) and I have seen 2 versions of EB maxtow: One with 3800# rear and one with 4150# rear. The 4150# data point I took a picture of myself. The other data point could have been bad information but I have not seen more help in my GAWR thread.

If we could get more folx to post white door stickers we would know for sure what the variables are to get that 4150# axle in non powerboosts.

You can see that going from 3800->4150 gets you the 3rd leaf, so it is an important difference to note.

In the Weight Ratings section of the specs document, it specifies the axle rating of the various cab and wheel base options. I believe taking the axle rating from that table and applying it to Spring Spec table you referenced will show what springs will be put on the truck. Though I do note they don't use the same terminology (Max GVAR vs Comb. Rating @ Ground (lbs)).

Does anyone have the part numbers for these rear leaf springs? In case someone wants to retrofit their non HDPP F150 with the leaf spring packs with a higher spring rate. I know this won't increase your actual tow or payload rating legally, however, it should improve handling when the rear axle is loaded.

Good to know about that extra leaf. Anyone have an opinion on in it will improve or hurt the ride quality?

I’d be curious also. I ordered mine with the max tow package.

I will know in a few weeks, my guess is that it will not be as comfy unloaded and especially uncomfy in the regular cab.

I don’t see why Ford offers the same suspension, from the base XL all the way to the Platinum and Limited. Something like air suspension from Expedition/Navigator would make more sense on a nearly six figure truck. It really shows why it has become Ford’s cash cow.

If the ride is really rough, since most of my miles will be unloaded, I may swap out the springs for the lower spring rate ones and install airbags for the few instances where the higher spring rate is needed.

Then again, I might also get a Tommy Gate hydraulic liftgate, so with 500lbs on the rear bumper, who knows, I might need the original spring pack and airbags. It all depends, more than likely, the truck will remain stock while under warranty.

Mine is a max tow and has the 3rd leaf spring. No rough ride here, best riding F150 I've ever driven.

Glad to hear that. It was one of my slight concerns since I have the Max Tow package.

You can throw that one out, this truck rivals my wife's 2020 Lexus RX350.
