Hello Everyone,

I am looking at buying an used Lariat trim with low miles preferably under 20K miles. After checking on multiple sites found a few of the following,

2022 with 25K miles that are listed at 47K

2023 models listed at 55K-60K , all under 15K miles.

What would be a good price point for me to reference to , to make sure i don't over pay a lot.

Also, does it make sense to get extended warranties on the used vehicles for peace of mind ?, any info on a good coverage/provider is also appreciated.

Thanks,

That is a very decent price but it all depends on what you are willing to pay. I would say the 22 should probably start around 50K.

Remember the 22's had no technology deletes. 23's and above are still missing some of the original tech.

@EdRudy Could you share some resources for me to look at regarding the Technology deletes and the tech options you mentioned.

Not too familiar with this EV space as this will be our first. Was looking at a truck with good road manners and decent fuel efficiency and then i ended up here :)

23's didn't have the truck bed scales, I think the platinums didn't have massaging seats, some didn't have heated steering wheels (but you can add that on yourself, I did on my Pro). There's probably a few others things I'm forgetting too

@jdmackes Thanks for sharing the info. So, if i am not mistaken, these are just on the added features side, there is no impact to the vehicle performance / range correct?

I am not too worried about the massaging seats / heated steering wheels.

Scales might be the only thing i would like, as we pack a lot of bikes / hiking gear on trips...but not a must have.

Assume you're looking at the ER that comes with package 511A. You could look at the 2022 and 2023 Order Guide for features. Lots of YT videos that cover the different trims.

For 2023, there were constraints. They deleted onboard scales and smart hitch. Many/most also don't have heated steering wheel but I think that it a dealer install for free (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). The frunk net and under seat storage tray was a separate option in 23 for Lariat.

You can probably lookup the original window sticker for most used trucks - it wold show any deletes for which a credit was given.

Onboard scales are more useful for bed loads like dirt, lumber, concrete, etc. Hiking gear and bikes won't get near the payload limit. I've never used mine.

But yes, motors, battery, interior all the same.

On 2023 models if the Onboard Scales are deleted they take $650 off the price of the truck.

Thanks for the details, was able to locate a thread listing them out as well.

Alright, mow i am not too concerned about MY 22 vs 23. I prefer low miles on a MY23 just so they have more time on bumper-bumper warranty and i am not stuck with any major repairs outside warranty coverage , shortly after purchase.

Looking more on the MY23, found a Lariat with ~15k miles ER listed at ~55K. When I checked the vehicle report it has the following recall listed.

Is this a Lemon in Disguise, with repairs not being done or addressed ?..please advise.

"Mfr. Recall 23B57
Customer SAT/Owner Notification Program: HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY MODULE REPLACEMENT ANDOR BATTERY ENERGY CONTROL MODULE BECM SOFTWARE UPDATE
LOCATE YOUR NEAREST AUTHORIZED
FORD DEALER TO SCHEDULE REPAIR.
Status: Remedy Unknown "

Every Lightning produced in 22 and 23 got that. There is a huge thread on this! Most of us have had it taken care of. Its a simple update the dealer can do before selling it to you.

Note it is not a Recall but a Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP).
https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/csp-23b57-for-high-voltage-battery-notice.16683/

EDIT: Note that the CSP states that 4% of Lightnings may have a bad battery module. Mine is currently in the shop for this. Some vehicles took a long time to repair and were lemon-lawed.

Ok got it. I just wasn't sure as it states remedy as unknown at the end.

Will check with the dealer to see if that can be addressed and it there's any room for negotiation on the pricing.

So, if they say it will take longer to address this issue then it is part of that 4% maybe.

Thanks for that info.

The software allows the truck to more quickly spot a battery problem. For some folks, right after the update, it flagged a bad module. For me, my modules were fine when the software was updated, but one went bad 4 months later (18 months of ownership).

And many dealers do not clear the CSP from the system after the update but leave it on for a few months just in case a bad module develops.

That's just a software update.

Dealer said they performed that work and can share proof.

I am going to counter lower than 55K, any reasonable value I should keep in mind....my original budget was 50K.

You should consider a new 2023 Lightning Lariat. Cost after rebates, tax credit dealer discount would be close to a used 2023.

~$79,000 MSRP for a ER Lariat
-$7,500 rebate
-$7,500 tax credit
-$5,000 dealer discount
—————
$59,000 total

plus you get
a Fresh truck with full warranty
nobody's problem truck
Brand new tires
no wear and tear
lower potential interest rate for new vehicle

I would enter the vin in Carvana, or similar service, and watch your eyes pop when you see their offer, if they give you one. You can use that price to further negotiate with the selling dealer.
